With the lone exception of North Korea all of the combatants in the world today depend on their religious beliefs to support their aggression against others. Our religion is the only true faith, yours is blasphemy! Like or Dislike: 1 1 Reply Nugee says: December 2, 2010 at 4:57 am You have to be careful in choosing what you believe. Some advocates of a certain type of religion bring all religion into disrepute. The essence of Chsitianity is that there is a God who cares how you conduct yourself, with whom you can on occasion communicate; there is a life after death in which you may be called to account for your life on earth; the kind of life that Jesus advocated is one in which you recognise the sovereignty of God, you behave with respect for all human beings ("love" in the popular sense is asking for a bit much, unless you understand "love your neighbour" as meaning "respect your neighbour and behave to him as you would wish him to beheve to you", which is the true meaning of love in the teaching of Jesus and generally in the New Testament), self-centredness is the fundamental sin and the opposite of love, unselfishness is an attitude you should strive to adopt so far as is consistent with the work that you do, family life and love between husband and wife and parents and children and grandchildren is of paramount importance, life in a community such as a church congregation (and in particular round the table at the celebration of the Lord's Supper or Eucharist) is part of a Christian way of life. The aims are not too difficult to achieve, though many, including self-proclaimed Christians, fail to achieve them. If everyone followed the foregoing Christian principles, one could truly say that religion is a force for good. Like or Dislike: 1 0 Reply Leave a Reply Click here to cancel reply.
