Guest guest
, About the pool, I always wear shoes around and IN the pool, and other pools (clean ones I do this not only for the possibility of slipping, but also to protect the bottom of my feet which are so tender, concrete feels like it scrapes them. I also sometimes wear shoes when I am snorkeling - as sometimes I encounter a shallow reef or spiny creatures that sting. Coral has also been know to scrape my feet - don't need any more foot infections. As for motivation re water exercise, all it took on this was for 3 weeks first of PT aquatic therapy and I was seeing muscle built up. A routine was easily established thereafter since the aquatic center is only open 5 days a week and certain hours for this program I do. The staff are so nice, for people who worry or are afraid, or have special needs about getting in and out of the pool, the staff helps them individually. There are 'pool shoes/water shoes' but I just use my New Balance ones, since I am so used to them and their build. ~ G
Guest guest
This aquatic center is not in San Diego, is it? Gosh, it would be so great if it were!
Guest guest
Ellie asks: << Does being very muscular delay the effects of the disease? >> NO! Either a person has CMT from before birth, or doesn't have it at all. Using up your nerves early (by trying to build big muscles) could bring on symptoms early. If the adult children still have no symptoms, they are probably okay. Going along with normal activities is best, in my opinion. A few of the over 40 different types of CMT can be identified with genetic (blood) tests, but most can not. They are diagnosed in other ways, as spelled out in Dorothy's pages about diagnosing. http://www.geocities.com/dgosling_rn/diagnosis.html See also http://www.geocities.com/dgosling_rn/rehab.html " It is impossible to reduce the tiring of your muscles: the only therapy is... rest. " I hope this helps, and welcome! Kat Seattle WA USA
Guest guest
No, the aquatic center is in Solvang, Calif, but San Diego is such a big city, I am certain there must be one there. I can ask our pool people if they know of one. Some of the bigger hotels here also offer their pools for our community's use, we also have a new Y with a huge pool and a new Health and Wellness Center with a huge pool, weight room, massage, etc. kedleson@... wrote: > > This aquatic center is not in San Diego, is it?
