Guest guest
This is to give comment on the statement that AIDS is a frightening disease. For me, AIDS should not be considered a scary disease if only the people are given the adequate information and education about the mode of transmission through which the infection is acquired. We should bear in mind that the most common modes of transmission; through blood and body fluids which can be taken through risky sexual behavior and sharing contaminated needles; having multiple sexual partner; blood transfusion with an infected blood; and mother to child transmission during pregnancy and delivery. With regards to compliance with anti-retroviral drugs I don't see any logical reason behind for not complying the treatment if only the patient who are positive on HIV infection are given adequate education on the nature of the disease and the possibility of serious complications that might set-in when the immune system of the affected patient is destroyed as a consequence of failure to comply the treatment regimen and some sexual behavior modification. The patient should be thought about the following preventive measures as follow: a) abstinence, be faithful, c) use condom correctly and consistently, d) never use illicit drugs and share needles, e) education about the nature and consequence of HIV infection and its complication. Guest guest
Dear All, Greeting to you. As you all know Almost two thirds (63%) of all people living with HIV globally live in sub-Saharan Africa coutries . ARTs are mainly given for the patients with out payment in these countries because the people can't afford to bye these medications. The major donors of these drugs are global fund and PEPFAR.The sustainiblity of the ART program mainly depend on donation. It is hard to guess what will happen if the donors stop suppying the drugs .How many patients will afford to buy the drugs and adhere to the treatment? Guest guest
Dear Ribika! You have very rightly described the problem of UNAFFORDABILITY in relation to non adherence to antiretroviral therapy. Could you think of some more problems? -- In netrum , " mekonnenrg " <mekonnenrg@...> wrote: > > > > Dear All, > Greeting to you. Guest guest
Dear Dr.Sudeera! You are quite correct in saying about lack of affordability in relation to compliance problems with the use of ART drugs. What more can you think Madam?
