Guest guest
, Congratulations to your daughter. My handicap placard is a life-saver for me a lot of times, too. The thing that frustrates me is that many times handicapped spots are either already all filled up, or they seem to be in a location that isn't all that accessible. One example I have is that we have a Performing Arts Center at our local college campus with a capacity to seat approximately 500 people. There are only 2 designated spots that are approximately 50 yards from the building's entrance. It's also uphill. It's hard enough for me to make the hike in my AFOs if a spot just happens to be available, but I think it would be impossible to make the journey in a wheel chair that isn't motorized. Anybody have any suggestions on how to get this rectified?
Guest guest
, according to the ADA the handicapped parking space must be the closest spaces to the door. 1 for every 100 other spaces. I am not sure about being level. I would contact the manager and prez of the Board of Directors with your problem. If that doesn't help, your local news, or newspaper would like to know that. I am also working on a web site where people can post businessess that are not accessible. All over; the United States. I will let you know when it is ready.
