Guest guest
Hi there, Yes I have had problems with dysphagia. I rarely eat anything unless I have something to drink with it. I did ask a doctor about it and he told me he doubted it has anything to do with my disease. This was in 1996. Now I am told that they do think that CMT and the dysphagia is all relative. I am 46, I was diagnosed in 1993. I have had problems all my life but I never had a name for it. I also wanted to respond to what to say when people confront me. I too have used MS as a explanation. Not that I owe anybody any explanation, but sometimes I get defensive. I tried so many times to explain CMT when I am confronted, but people just look at you with a blank look.. When you say MS.. they say ah.... and go about their business. I like the idea of a business card with the explanation.. just hand em out when confronted... I am going to try that one. Guest guest
Hi Yes, I have been having terrible trouble with heartburn. Didnt think it could be anything to do with cmt. Havent been to the docs yet just taking the over counter medication like gaviscon. The last time I had Heartburn was when I was pregnant. I thought it was just maybe my age. Do you think I should go to the doctors or wait. Its been going on for about 3-4 months I suppose. Regards
Guest guest
Thanks Carol & for your responses. What the Dr. had told me was that heartburn & dysphagia were 2 different problems but possible that the dysphagia is that the muscle is too weak, therefore not being able to swallow & always feeling as though I have a lump in my throat (very uncomfortable). I have been trying to drink more water with the little bit of eating that I'm now doing because of these 2 problems, but that doesn't seem to help alot at this point. If only I could have a magic cure that would be so nice (like all of us). I think that you should at least go to the Dr. to see what he thinks. I know how uncomfortable this can be-Good luck...I'll keep you posted as I continue to take this on.... BC No.Calif.
