Guest guest
Hi , CMT is very contrary in that it is not consistent. Many CMT women are left quite weak from a pregancy, or sometimes not until the second or third one. I know of a few who were not affected, at least not right away, and some who don't think they have been affected at all. We vary a lot. In addition, even if the mom's body handles it the pregnancy okay, she is likely to find that running after a toddler is extremely difficult. Toddlers are very active and hard to control because they haven't learned to mind. They are challenging enough for an able-bodied person!!! It's a personal decision that no one can make for you, but remember, we can't know ahead who will and who will not be adversely affected. Another part of the conumdrum is that I've seen some moms fall apart when they learned they had passed it on to a child. Each child has a 50% chance of inheriting. In some families few or none inherit, but in others most if not all do. There is usually no way to predict that either. Good luck deciding. Guest guest
Hi My pregnancy experience was not a good one for my body, I found things really difficult and actually got worse after my having the baby. My ankles were swollen from day one getting in and out of the car was impossible, even getting up from the toilet was a strain and I went often, stairs were a nightmare and the back passim never stopped. I had to have a c-section because my legs in the birth position would spasim and I couldnt' take it anymore. Anyway, I have heard from some women that have CMT and had a pleasant pregnancy and birth, unfortunatly I was not one of them :-) Don't get me wrong I love my baby girl and if I had the chance to go back I would do it all over again, but if you ask me if I will have another one I would say NEVER... I gained alot of weight which is not good with this condition and I'm still on the road to recovery it's coming along really slowly. I know I will never get back to the way I was before the pregnancy but eventually I will learn to attempt with what I have. If you want to know anything else let me know
Guest guest
Hi ! I have to say I had no difficulties related to my CMT when I was pregnant. But... I also had only minor symptoms at that time. Now, 28 years later, is a different story. Good luck. Janet
