Guest guest
My pre-op appointment with Dr Lenke went real well. He only sees patients one day a month so it was no surprise that we were there from 12:15pm to 7:09pm. I did have the oppurniiiituty to meet two women who has already had surgery and sang Lenke high praises. My surgery is July 9 but I will go in on the 7th so they can give me nutrients intravenously before surgery. I will be fused from T1 all the way to my pelvis. I was so disappointed when I heard that. I should have guessed it but I was hoping for less fusion. I am only having the posterior done now and the anterior done 6 weeks to 6 months later. I will have to wear a brace for 6 months. I know there are many of you fused to the pelvis. Are you able to bend at all? With my arms being so weak, I have to put my head between my legs and prop my elbow on my knee to wash my hair. Will I ever be able to do that with time? Thank you for listening and for any information or advice you may have for me. Joyce
Guest guest
Joyce, I can't answer all your questions because I am only fused from T6 to L5. Barring all the other things that go wrong, I will tell you that I am quite supple! It takes time and I'm not fused to the sacrum, so I don't have that experience (yet). I did see my hand doctor today, though, and he is really pleased with my healing and the state of the hand. I needed some really good news. Anyway, my point in writing this is to reassure you that you will be in my prayers. Time has a way of hurrying so, you'll be done before we blink! Will anyone be able to keep us posted on your condition? Sincerely, Jealous non-Bichon owner, Carole
Guest guest
Oh, Carole. If only we lived closer. I would let you dog sit my Sota. After that, you would never be happy again until you got your own Bichon. I will give this group's address to a friend and ask her to give you an update. How is your neck. I hope it corrected itself all on its own. Thank you for your prayers. Joyce Re: Upcoming scoliosis surgery Joyce, I can't answer all your questions because I am only fused from T6 to L5. Guest guest
Joyce, That was such a nice thing to say! Thank you! Yes, I'll be awaiting news. My neck is a little better, but am still awaiting neurology appointment. I'm doing pretty well for me. My very best to you! Carole
