I went to the American College of Rheumatology

(http://www.rheumatology.org/) to find my rheumy, and I'm pretty sure that

there are the same types of boards for each specialist (nearly positive,

actually). You could probably type in something similar--American College

of Podiatry, etc., or find out which organization someone in that field who

is " board certified " belongs to. Board certification is an extra test (I'm

not sure if it's optional or not) that Drs. have to take once finished with

med school. I think we've been tossed around and poked and prodded on

enough to avoid the risk of a lesser qualified person, but that's just me.

Of course, if you aren't in the US you could dispense with the American part

of that search. =)

Good luck!

Try the American Medical Association's " doctor finder " - try this link

http://www.ama-assn.org/iwcf/iwcfmgr206/SESSION_ID=1359647/SESSION_AR=77/frm_nam\

e=aps_disclaimer

if that doesn't work, go to http://www.ama-assn.org/aps/amahg.htm at

the bottom right where it says for 'patients and consumers' click on

'search for a physican and it will keep prompting you. At one point you

can search by the area you live in, you can also search by speciality

like neurology or whatever; also in your area.

There is also the Muscular Dystrophy Association doctors who see CMT

patients. Go to http://www.mdausa.org/clinics/ and put your zip code in

the 'find' box.

I found my Internist by asking my orthopedist who he recommended. I live

in a small valley and that Internist has been very good. Hope some of

this is helpful.
