Guest guest
Hi, my name is ka I am a 33 year old woman diagnosed w/cmt in April 2001. I had went for a job and had been sent to get a carpal tunnel test. I had been feeling weak in my legs and arms and very fatigued but had been under alot of stress. My mother had been diagnosed with arterial venus malformation of the brain and was going to die. She was 50 years old. My little sister was 15 years old and had came to live w/me. So you see I thought how I had been feeling was related to all of that. My mother had been diagnosed in Aug of 1997 and had died in April of 99. So I was now raising my three kids and my baby sister. Alot of stress. I had lost alot of weight and just thought I would get back to normal at some point. When I went for the carpal tunnel test the dr. said that my nerves were reacting very slow and wanted to look at my feet. He ask if I had been having touble and I told him about the weakness. He wanted to see me in his office did alot of tests including a dna test which came back negative. All other test confimed cmt except the dna test. He said that the cmt dx was correct. Since then I have had sudden onset of breathing trouble and been dx'd with asthma. Am taking Advair and Albuterol that doesn't seem to help much. My cmt dr. says that cmt does not cause breathing trouble and is unrelated. I have also started to experience diarrhea alot and do not know if that is related or not. Having noticed in the past few months that my legs feel a little weaker and feel like I'm a little off balance at times. Had started having some pain in feet at times. I feel really tired just doing everyday things. I work as an optometric tech. and when I come home at the end of the day I am pooped. So anyway that's part of my story and am so glad to be in the group. I just got my computer at home w/internet so I had not realized that all of this was out here. It's really nice to talk to people that are having the same trouble. Thanks again!!
