Hi Jeanette and Joyce, I work full time and commute 60 mi/day. This surgery brought such an improvement in my quality of life. Physically, I had held out as long as possible before I had the surgery. I suffered from a high level of chronic pain from the scoliosis and resulting complications. I am limited in what I do with my arms. If I use my arms too much, I have alot of pain and irritation in between my shoulders. For example, I washed a few sets of windows and scraped paint from windows this weekend and I am hurting from that. But my previously painful lower back gives me very few problems. Fatigue seems to be a problem since the surgery too. Now I am balanced and don't walk with a limp. I had a decompensated curve: my head was not balanced over my mid pelvis. My body was constantly fighting this imbalance. Dr. Kostuik said this made my condition worse as far as muscle fatigue. Walking was a very tiring activity before the surgery. Standing very long was difficult too and neither of those are a problem now. Dr. LaGrone was my surgeon and I can't say enough good about him. I am very pleased with my outcome. I wish everyone could have the outcome that I have experienced. I realize I may have complications in the future but for now try not to think about that. with a " C " :-) __________________________________________________
