Guest guest
Hi, I was 48 yrs. old when diagnosed with CMT1. My aunt was 43 yrs.old. My disease really took off like wildfire after I had 3 stress fractures in the left foot (caused by osteoporosis), and was also diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which attacks the cartilage and collagen. My doctor feels the CMT became so active because it was exacerbated by the other diseases. My feet and ankles absolutely CRUNCH! My hips have always done this so I sometimes sound like the characters from the Rice Krispies commercial-SNAP,CRACKLE,POP! I know of 2 other family members who started having visible signs of CMT after 35, and at least 2 who had symptoms and tests done as children.
