It's impossible that CMT1A comes from chromosome X. CMT1A comes from

chromosome 17.

CMTX comes from chromosome X, but in this case your father should be

affected (and quite severely, because a male has only a X).

It's very improbable, but not impossible, that a woman with CMT2 marries a

man with CMT1A. However, it's probable that you have inherited only 1

mutation, that is that you have only 1 type of CMT (either CMT1A or CMT2).

Best regards.

Hi ,

I'm Jim. I was not diagnosed till 12/02 and just turned 36

as of 2/03. I really never showed any signs of CMT. No hammer toe,

small calves, high arches,Ect. I did have problems with my legs

though. Restless Leg Syndrome, Numerous knee surgeries to clean off

meniscus or fix tares?, leg and foot pain/cramps, and I started

falling down in the last five years with greater frequency. It got so

bad the guys I worked with would bet on how long it would be before I

was on the ground.LOL They thought it was the greatest thing in the

world, Of course, I could not get in on the betting action so it was

not much fun for me. I was diagnosed after a back injury that brought

about greater CMT symptoms. I lost feeling in my feet in spots,

fatique, wicked cramps/spasms(the muscles in my legs had little tiny

twitches all over) that would not quit. So I was sent to a Neuro. who

I told that my father and family had CMT. He sent for a DNA test but

tried to say all it was is neurapothy due to Diabetes. The test came

back that I had CMT1A. I do not and never had Diabetes. I've never

gone back to that Neuro. Anyway, that's my story I hope it helps. You

can e-mail or post any other questions if you want more info. Good

luck I hope your problem turns out to be something fixable.

Jim
