Guest guest
Hi, Today we had an appointment with Dr. Betz from the Shriners Hospitals in Philly. My daughter, 15 years old, is in need for a surgery as her curve is around 60 degree and she is in pain. Dr. Betz is amazing and I would let him operate her without doubt. The problem is that due to a shoulder's injury, he doesn't performs surgeries any more. He still is the head of the department. At the Shriners they work as a team for every surgery they perform, so his input will influence the success of the surgery no doubt, but another, younger surgeon will perform the surgery. His name is Dr. Cahill, he has 2 and a half years of experience, he performed around 200 scoliosis surgeries to this date. My fear is that even if Dr. Bets will come up with the best surgery plan for my daughter, it will all be in the hands of not so experienced surgeon, Dr. Cahill. Am I correct? I heard the surgery itself is very technical, and straight forward. Is it safe to go with Dr. Cahill? We have an alternative to go to Dr. Sponseller at Jhon Hopkins in land. He is an experienced surgeon, it's just that we all liked the Shriners so much better, especially the team work with Dr. Betz in the lead. Thanks for ant input, Neta
