Guest guest
, Every one of the physical therapists I have ever had knew far more about CMT than any doctor. I started PT when I was about 13 or 14 plus since I was already horsebackriding, I had some 'therputic riding' too. The PTs I have now are even more knowledgeable about CMT and other disorders too. Why not see if you can contact the PTs in Birmingham, and do some phone interviews re their CMT knowledge. It seems along way to travel to Detroit - althought that is where some research is done and the North American CMT Database is. http://www.med.wayne.edu/neurology/cmt.html At some point you might be interested in the CMT Rehabilitation Management book, here's the link http://www.aicmt.org/books.htm You might also be interested in subscribing to the CMT Today magazine. Available 6 times per year/$40.00 email cmt.today@... or snail mail address is: 132 Ontario Street, Guelph, Ontario, Canada. N1E 3B4 As a child and teen I had university/neurology doctors and never liked any of them or the setting. I went to one MDA appointment and left when the doctor wanted to give me AFOs - I was there for help with my tremors... Private practice neurologists have always given me excellent care - even if many times they were at a loss of what to do and I did try alot of different things for symptom relief. ~ Gretchen
