Guest guest
Llweyn, Thanks for the info. I ordered the book yesterday. Did you ever read it? Look as though there is a lot in there - I hope to learn something. Thanks again, Robin >On Wed, 24 Sep 2003 21:12:55 -0700 Llweyn Friars <mad.monk@...> wrote. >

> > > >Hi Robin,
>I believe the book you are refering to is Scoliosis Surgery: The Definitive
>Patient's Reference available through http://www.curvedspine.com/ that
> Racine mentioned. Guest guest
You're welcome Robin. I haven't read the book yet since it was the first time I saw anything about from . Being in Canada, I wasn't sure if I could order it through the site. Let me know what you think about the book when you receive it. It would be nice if there was a book review by scoliosis patients, not experts, to be able to check better about the resources available, since it is us, scoli's that have to live with this condition. Guest guest
Llweyn, I finished reading Scoliosis Surgery: The Definitive Patients Guide some time ago. I'm going through my saved e-mails today because I am finally seeing my ortho doctor tomorrow. I made the appointment back in September, but the doc is well worth the wait. I found the book to be very straightforward and honest and very helpful. I will read it again and have recommended it to various people inquiring about their own Scoliosis. I'm glad to see a book written by an adult with Scoliosis that had surgery, so much of what is out there is written for Adolescents. I'll post a message following my appointment with what he says regarding surgery - have the curves progressed? Does he recommend surgery now, if not how long can I wait, etc.... Guest guest
Robin, Good luck with your appointment. I have since read the book myself and found it very helpful, along with Racine's list of Preparing for Surgery. I'm getting more testing, etc. done, along with seeing a neurosurgeon, while waiting to see the ortho, in Vancouver. It is definitely a process/journey which has got me started in organizing a chapter of the Scoliosis Association in BC since there is not much information/support for the past and present patients.
