Chiropractor said " Oh, I've seen a couple worse, but this is bad " Claims he can straighten my spine in 8 weeks. Ok Hudini, if it was only that easy. Plus Dr.s keep giving me muscle relaxants that do nothing! It's not my muscle hurting, it is my bones grinding together. Plus I am trying to get this taken care of before my husbands insurance runs out in Dec. How did you guys get someone to take this seriously? He's very conservative, which can be a good thing, or it can turn out to mean several surgeries instead of one big one, depending on your situation. He performed my first 2, and I recommend him. In looking back I wonder what if I'd had it all done in the beginning instead of a little here and a little there, but, again, what if I could've gotten by with the lesser surgery? It's something to take into consideration. After my big and successful surgery in 2005, I orchestrated and accomplished a move to Las Cruces, NM. Unfortunately, after a year here, my rods broke. Here, the healthcare sucks. So I went to Phoenex, per Dr. Tribus' advice, and had my revision done by Dr. s. Now almost 2 years later and a visit back to Madison, I found out a screw went through my iliac nerve. Now I know why I've been in such horrible pain. Rather than go back again to Madison, and not being happy with Dr. s, I'm heading to San Francisco the end of the month. I hear the UCSF is great. Probably along the lines of UW of Madison. Closer to me though. I do miss the good healthcare in Madison. It's so hard to travel on top of everything else. Tribus on Tues, and his nurse (looking at my 13 year old x-rays) saw the problem.L-4 and L-5 need to be fused. Antway she said I need an updated MRI and he will schedule me when the report gets faxed over. So I call my one DR. to set that up, no call back, so I call again the next day, and the receptionist tells me " Oh, she is out of the off ice till Mon " Thanks for telling me EARLIER! So I call my other Dr. His nurse takes down all what I say, asks where I want it done, etc. Again no call back!!!! So I call back (this is now Thurs) And the actual Dr. gets on the phone ands starts 3rd degree-ing me like he never heard a word I said evertime I was there!! So he says, " well you will have to come in so I can check your leg reflexes to see if you really need an MRI " I THINK DR. TRIBUS SAID I DID, SO JUST SCHEDULE IT, WILL YOU????!!!! I said before the Dr.s around here think it's a big joke. So I gotta go Tues (a whole other week WASTED) for him to decide if he will schedule one or not. I had a nurse get into my face and scream at me about what a hard day she'd had when I was in the office for the 3rd time trying to get my rx written correctly. My dr did it every month. He'd write the rx either for the wrong med or the wrong amt, and he'd always want me to come in to clarify. Of course he really wanted to book another appt and copay. So I refused to allow them to charge me and I said just give me the rx for the wrong amt, I didn't care. I just wanted to get the meds and get home. I'm in pain. So I was crying and when she told me she'd shredded the other rx and I had to wait to see the dr I sighed and put my head in my hand, so she started screaming at me. I got up and walked out while she continued screaming at me that Ok, now I don't get my rx at all--which would have put me into withdrawl if I hadn't had some left over just in case. I found a new clinic that is pretty good thank goodness. But in the meantime I received a letter in the mail telling me to never come back to the office of the 1st dr as I caused a scene and was rude to the employees. So I got barred from a drs office! There's a lot more to this story but I get so upset just remembering it. I can't believe drs get away with giving such sub-standard care when they get paid so much! $150 for 5 minute appts.! I wish so much to get free of this dependance on medication and drs help for the never ending problems that pop up. Anyway, good luck with your situation. You'll get through it, it just takes so much energy and time, no one realizes how hard that is when we're in pain to begin with.
