You don't say if you are originally from Ghana or are just " visiting " or living there temporarily. But I do know that there is a scoliosis surgeon, Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei (I call him a " scoliosis god " ) who is from Ghana, who currently practices in New York City but still travels back to Ghana and to some developing nations to open hospitals and train surgeons, and do surgery for the people in these countries. He also brings these surgeons to NYC so they can train in state-of-the-art facilities. I don't have any information on where exactly he is in Ghana (maybe someone else here can provide a link), but in New York he is located at the Hospital for Special Surgery. I feel certain that if you can connect with Dr. Boachie, he can help you. He only takes on the really difficult cases, because that's where his expertise is sorely needed. It might take you some time to get an appointment, but it will be well worth it. Maybe you won't get him, but one of the surgeons he has trained! Good luck to you and let us know if you need any more information. (If anyone else here can add anything to this, that would be great.) D. Guest guest
Hi, everything you have said in your msg is just how i felt, i was always aware of my curve, im a size 10 but i aways had to buy size 14 clothes, when i used to tell people about my spine they used to say they never noticed. For years i used to beg surgeons to let me have the op, but cos my curve was 49 degrees they didnt think it was necessary, i was gutted. then i had three beautiful girls, i never had any back pain, not even when i was pregnant. but silly me, i still want happy with my curve , so i found a surgeon who would do it cos i told him how it made me so unhappy. i had the surgery 5 weeks ago and it is the worst mistake of my life. i spent 2 weeks in hospital, the pain was so bad, i used to cry all the time, i couldnt sit, stand or anything. i regret having it done so much, now im home the pain is still bad, im so scared it will never go, ive got three beautiful girls that i can no longer hold, play with, crawl on the floor with, i cant even move to get them dressed. im so stiff its unreal, when i drop something i cant even pick it up, i have always been so energetic it frustrates me. if you are as stubbon as me you will gat it done no matter what, you are not to old, im 28, but if i could have a choice again i wouldnt get it done. from Emma
