Guest guest
Hi everyone. I'm a little new to this. I am 22 weeks pregnant and just found out that the father of the baby has CMT. But on his side of the family they don't know what type? What would be the wisest way to find out if baby Elliott will inherit this. I know that they can test him after he is born, but also heard it isn't much fun. What would be the easiest route considering that the father's side does not know what type it is? Thank you, J

Guest guest
J, If I am up to date on the tests, there are 2 pre-natal CMT tests, one for type 1A and one for type X. (Type 1A accounts for about 70% of CMT, while type X accounts for about 15% of CMT cases). After Elliot is born, he can have the DNA test - it is a simple blood test - a blood sample is sent to the lab, where they can fully test for all other CMT types. Here's the lab link if you want to get in touch http://www.athenadiagnostics.com ~ G
Guest guest
, Lets keep our fingers crossed that Baby Elliott dosen't have CMT. But just for kicks when did Elliott's fathers CMT begin? Early in childhood, as a teenager or adult? Does anyone else in his family show signs of CMT? Male or female? Does anyone have ear or eye site problems? We maybe able to take a pretty darn good guess as to what type he has.
