Guest guest
Deb, We are all different with our CMT signs and symptoms. I am not able to share any experience with you on this as I have no problems with internal muscles. But from using certain medications, they can slow the bladder and bowel down. If your problems persist, I would suggest seeing a neuro-urologist for any mechanical difficulties first. How much water are you drinking? How much fruit do you eat? There are medications to help all kinds of bladder and bowel problems. Kegel exercises will help tone the muscles of the bladder and bowel. ~ Gretchen

Guest guest
Deb, Ask your doc about Ditropan XL. Might help. It is difficult to say if this is a common CMT problem or not, I checked through our archives and only found 3 posts on it. I checked a few other CMT places and didn't find anything, let alone commonality among CMT people. Perhaps you might want to ask the MDA docs about this at http://www.mdausa.org (go to 'Ask the Experts) or send in a question for the CMT Magazine at cmt.today@... I don't know what the wheelchair would be doing, unless maybe you spend too much time in it? Or cannot get out easily/fast enough; maybe a PT or OT could help? Sorry, I am not much help. ~ Gretchen
