Leanne Littrell, MS, RD, LD Director of Nutrition Services Bon Secours St. ph Hospital 941-766-4228 veggies I am seeing a patient who is having difficulty getting enough vegetables into her diet. I am looking for suggestions to give her other than cooking them until they are tender and am hoping some of you will have heard of veggies that tend to work well post-op. Guest guest
The patient is one year post-op. As far as other details go she had vertical band gastroplasty. She is having difficulty tolerating a variety of foods. She has also been known to not chew real thoroughly in the past. Thanks for the quick response! Guest guest
Deanna, I would start by determining if the pt. ate vegetables prior to the vertical banded gastroplasty. Try vegetables the patient likes (if any). Pt. could have vegetables with shredded cheese as their PRO source. Just some thoughts. Guest guest
I personally don't measure my green veggies. I do steer away from goitrogenic type veggies such as cabbage, broccoli, brussel sprouts, ect, but that's for personal reasons. > > Curious - I know BFL doesn't place a limitation on vegetables, aside from > the carby ones. Do you guys measure your lettuce or broccoli or spinach etc? > > n T >
Guest guest
Thanks for the tip... I will have to try this with my family... And tell them (your children)they must eat (at least some of it) it before they get anything else!! You are the parent. eventually they will become accustom to it or they won't eat at all.
