Dave,

Thanks for the post. I appreciated the feedback. yes, I believe you about

the military-and I have seen a lot of similar examples when I was in the

military for 4 plus years. I realize that the military in a sense, is a

vastly different organization than what most of us, who are civilians, know

about. And yes, I have seen a lot of the unfavorable reactions of what

happens after a servicemember goes to their Congressmen rather than solve the

problem through the military channels. However, listen to this, and find out

why it's neccessary to go the the Congressmen to get a " straight answer. "

When I was in the army for less than 4 or so months(back in 1994) , I wanted

to change the branch of the army that I was in, and no one...and I mean no

one....could give me a straight answer(vastly different answers from about 10

different individuals, and no one could show me anything in writing). So, I

got a little irritated at this example of bureaucratic nonsense, and I wrote

the President, the Secretary of the Army, the Chariman of the Joint chiefs of

Staff, and the Secretary of Defense with in 2(two) weeks I had the answer, in

wrtiing, that I had asked for. What a suprise!!!!!!

Here's another example....I got out of the military last September, 1998. I

did not get my evaluataion reports on my performance in the military until

late February of 1999. yes, that's about 5 months later, and I had to

threaten...yes that's right...I had to threaten to to go to a congressman's

office, and next thing you know, I got the evaluation reportrs delivered to

me. Wow, how a threat to go to a Congressman's office gets things done.

Isn't that a Coincidence!!!!!

I think that's why you have so many people writing their

Congressmen...because they just can't get a straight answer from thir

military chain of command. And I am not suprised why they have to go to

their Congressmen in the situation concerning the anthrax vaccine. I

remember that when I was in the military, when ever we had a " Congressional " ,

or a letter from a Congressman about a soldier or one of their constituents,

then we had a deadline...about 48 hours...or 2 business days to issue a

written reply back to the Congressman. That's why Congressionals are

soooooooooooo effective...because they get things done in a very expedient

manner. .

Thanks for your comment back..it was good hearing back from you.

No! I disagree. I am tired of reading interesting questions and never hearing

the answers. For every person that posts a question there are probably 10 more

waiting to hear what the answer is. It seems that the replies just don't com

and then all those people have to jump in and ask the question again. It is

meant to be an open discussion group and I learn a lot from just following other

peoples thread without clogging it up with a " send it to me too " message. (Home

Addresses and files are, of course, the exception or if something is OT). I

hope we

continue to share our solutions with all the members, thats how we learn

I would have to agree with strongly on this one! I see tons of questions

that I myself would love to know the answers to! I think the replies should be

to the group. It's important to make sure the replies have the same subject

line so we can follow it.......and those that don't want to can just hit

" delete " .

If I don't see any answers, I'm liable to unknowingly ask the SAME question

later on and that would just be another unnecessary clog up of e-mails to

everyone!

Hello:

I don't post much, but I have to reply to this. Personally, I have learned a

lot from posts such as the ones about the " black soap " . In fact, they are the

type of posts that I have learned the most. We glean bits and pieces from posts

like that. I love them. Keep posting......somebody is learning something...and

I am not bored.

I agree with this. We could start another list you know? I am on several

soaping lists. I couldn't find a list for the disabled (I have lupus), so I

created my own list. I started it on 1/16/01 and I already have 21 members

(which I consider to be pretty good). For every problem...there is a solution.

Dear Helen,

For some reason, I wasn't able to open the links. I kept getting error

messages. Imodium had no effect. My dr. took me off that and put me on

Lomotil.....also Lactinex, Prilosec, Nulev, and Flagyl.

Hello Joyce,

I saw that you had your rods removed in 1971. If you don't mind me

asking, what were the circumstances, and have you had any problems as

a direct result of rod removal/or have you been helped by it? Did

they re-instrument you?

I am having mine removed for pain in April or May probably.....

Any feedback you can give me would be great!

Hi, ,

I had my rods out in 1971 because that was the recommended practice to the time. About 10 yrs ago another ortho told me that they had quit taking them out yrs ago as they found it was more dangerous to take them out to leave them in. There had probably not been enough left in for a long enough period to built a data base to document the problems after a long period.

Now at 47 I'm running into some problems but have a new ortho & he's really taken an interest in these. He's run tests on me I've never had! But to him they're routine (I'm sure he wasn't even born when I had my fusion in 69!).

Keep us posted on your surgery and God Bless.

Thanks Joyce,

Keep me posted on your progress with your new ortho! My childhood

best friend lives in Albany and her husband is an orthopedic surgeon

with a group there (sports medicine mainly, knees, etc.). I've been

meaning to pick his brain about all this information I have just

learned over the last few months! I been wanting to go see her and

get her husband to consult with spine surgeons he might know in the

area. I don't think Albany is that far from Atlanta?

Just curious what tests are you referring to?

Take care of yourself!

Hi, ,

In reply to your question about my tests. On Monday I had an MRI for my back & then an EMG due to dumbness in my hands. I was sure the numbness was from my neck. But the EMG showed carpel tunnel so I'm to wear braces on both hands as much as possible & go to PT.

The MRI showed (guess what) severe scoliosis (lol), lumbarsacral foest (?), atrophy. Disc bulge L4-5. And one other thing I can't read. Start 2 weeks of PT for that next week.

Albany is about 4 hrs SW of Atlanta

- hi - I meant to reply to you last week - about adrenal insufficiency -

it is primary - we do the cortef daily,,, medic alert - injections to carry

around just in case... if we have a reaction to his infusions and need to go to

the hospital we have been told that the adrenal insufficiency is the primary

concern.. We seem to get reactions every three to four months.... headache,

vomiting..., confused... Actually Liam is not feeling all that great today -

went to school and I told him to call me if he needs to come home.. I don't

think he has too many days of feeling well...

We as a family get the flu shot- but last year Liam wasn't feeling well, so he

didn't ... I think we will do the same this year - all of us get it - and not

bother for him... (although the immunologist recommends it for him)

- what is " nemo & lymphoproliferactive disorder " --- never heard of

either and would like to know what it is all about... btw - you seem to have

your hands full...

I have to tell you that our family thinks that Dr. Bleesing is brilliant!

Actually, the team we saw at the NIH thinks he is too. They couldn't believe

that he diagnosed Conner with NEMO deficiency, there are only 72 cases in the

world and Conner had none of the physical traits to clue him in. Conner's

original dx was CVID and Dr. Bleesing told me at our first visit that Conner

didn't have CVID. He didn't know what it was at that time, but he said that it

wasn't CVID. It took Bleesing 18 months to diagnose him, but he kept doing more

and more labwork until he found it. Dr. Bleesing was Conner's transplant

physician as well and we trust him completely. Some people don't particularly

like his personality, as you know he is Dutch and has a different way of looking

at things, but we find him hilarious!

In 's case, I think Bleesing would have looked for the lymphoproliferative

disorders too, which is what I was kind of wondering about too. It sounds like

you've covered your bases and have gotten together a good team.

Thanks to all who replied to my initial message.

So I lost 7 pounds in 7 days and then gained 2...not what I was expecting. But

this morning I lost 1.5. So, as you all said I had a pause and hopefully

started again.

How long has everyone been on the HCG diet? and how much have you lost?

Has it been difficult or easy? Has anyone done more than one cycle of the HCG?
