God be with you! mary w from Oz Maintenance Hi girls! I measured yesterday afternoon and weighed myself after aweek. I am down to 154 lbs now and I can slide my big butt into a size8. It is tight but I was able to do it. I am happy right now because Ihave "officially" lost 50 lbs since the end of October. I did well withstarting out with Bodyflex but the major differences came withLifelift. I am in a really good mood today even though I have ahypoglycemia test in a little bit. I hate having blood drawn and theneedles. Ugh! I have been feeling a bit lightheaded and dizzy lately. My blood sugar is way down even though I am eating a lot and eating theright foods. This is something that I have to monitor weekly and latelya few times a week. So I am going in for some testing this afternoondue to my doctor's wishes. I am going to try to maintain for awhileuntil we figure out what is going on with my body. Wish me luck! Thanks,Michele

Guest guest
Hi guys! Well I survived the blood tests yesterday and I must say my arms look like I am a heroine addict or something. It's hard to find veins in my arms so I got a couple of extra pricks. Ugh! I'm still not sure what is causing my blood sugar to rise and fall so much but it was pretty low yesterday. I have been eating the right foods and I am not skipping meals. I told my doctor that I usually carry a snack around with me as well. One thing is that my body does need time to catch up with all the inch and weight loss so I need to take a breather from all of the exercise that I do. It's time just to maintain for awhile and let my body heal a little bit more. Then we will have a better idea of what is going. Well I need to get back to work. Have a great day! Guest guest
Hi Michele, glad you survived the tests :-) Am trusting God all is OK and you can get back to "breathing" soon. Am also thankful you beat your eating disorder. CONGRATULATIONS! You and Tami are special people and I'm so happy you both made the changes you did. I'm sure it wasn't easy. But praise God, you did it! My love to you both. {{{HUGS}}} & God bless, Bonnie ***************************With God, ALL things are possible.***************************

Guest guest
For me, BFL is BFL. I continue with the same princpals and do keep varying my routines every 4 weeks. There are various lifting principals and styles you can play around with also, although I've found following the BFL plan to the letter, has gotten me the best results. I've done some Pyramid lifting and Slow and Heavy rotations and then gone back to straight BFL by the book in between. Guest guest
Me too. BFL is BFL. I don't want to lose weight but do wish to keep/gain muscle so I keep doing BFL. I do different workouts(one set of bodyparts a week, shoulders twice, abs every other day) but the food is about the same. I do a little more than a fist for carbs and protein but they're still about equal. For me, after being on BFL for a while(over a year)I mostly just wanted to take up bodybuilding but the same principles of BFL still apply. So, wherever you wish to take it you can now that you have all the tools to do it. If you max what your hands can hold increase the intensity instead. Keep the muscle as tense and contracted as you can all the way up and all the way down. You'll feel like you are lifting way more weight than you really are. Or for biceps you can do 21s using a barbell or ez bar. You will have to use lighter weight for this anyway but it will really kick start your bicep growth if you feel you're going stale. Guest guest
I wish. That was not the case for me. As soon as I started slacking off a bit, I started to pack the pounds back on. I have to work every bit as hard to maintain as I do to lose. That's just the way my body works. I'm sure that's not the case for everyone. The only thing easier about maintaining, at least for me, is the mental aspect. It's easier for me to stay on the wagon when I already look great, because I love looking that way and don't want to lose it, so I think twice about having that donut. When I'm at a heavier weight, I tend to reationalize and be fatalistic and think, " Well, I'm already fat, might as well have that. Guest guest
---Dani..I am soo like you..so I will just say..what you said. I have to be very very careful once I get to where I want to be. but just simply following bfl by the book helps me maintain..but I have never really totally been where I want to be I guess. what I should say is I have never really been happy with my body..but this time around..umm..yeah..I will do better! I was doing really really good following bfl and stayin a size 10 almost an 8 until I changed my eating to low carb and no free days...and well..we all know what happened there don't we...lol. yeah..and the last line you said..that is me for sure! Guest guest
Crunches, I don't even count them, I just do them till they burn like the fires of Hades. It takes a while to exhaust them like this then I stretch them out then start all over. Also reverse crunches on a decline bench, hanging knee raises, and seated Vs where you sit on the end of a bench and make a V out of your body. For obliques I do twisting bicycles till it burns, I don't count these either. Abs are hard to tire so make sure you punish them enough. Guest guest
Once you get all healthy and fit and ripped looking, obviously you can't stop or you would go right back to square one. People always ask about maintenance and what you do to stop losing weight, like that might be problematic. :-) Here's something I sent somebody earlier today. ~~~ Maintenance is easy! Most people don't need any help at all with it. They do it accidentally half way through their challenge and call it a plateau. Basically, all you have to do is screw up a little here and there - an extra piece of bread, a handful of M & Ms at work, a few big spoonfuls of peanut butter, free weekends instead of free days - and voila! Maintenance! Seriously though, in order to maintain your new body you have to keep on keeping on. Maintenance is just more of the same. You may be able to throw in an extra free meal, or be more flexible with your carb choices, or increase your portion sizes slightly. It's a matter of seeing how much you can get away with and keep your body. If you do something that causes you to gain weight, you just knock it off and go back to basic BFL until you're where you want to be... then you start seeing what you can get away with again. It's kinda fun. :-) shrinking - Lia The only thing that worries me now is that should I stop this eating program and exercise 6 days a week, will I end up weighing more than when I originally started? Somehow I think the weight would come back VERY quickly. K
Guest guest
Maintenance is easy. Most people don't need any help at all with it. It's kinda fun. When you reach your weight and body fat goals, a good maintenance goal is to become active enough to eat and burn _____ however many calories a day, fill in the blank. If you're average size, maybe 2,000. If you're very petite, maybe 1,700-1,800 and you can be a lot more flexible with those calories. You can actually eat bread and pizza and chocolate, but you have to do it within the framework of your program and your goals, and (BIG important point here) you have to be active enough to break even instead of gaining. You may even have to be *more* active than you are on BFL. If you go to the Hussman BMR calculator, it will give you the estimated number of calories you burn in a day with energetic daily workouts. That's your ballpark maintenance number. The true number may be a couple of hundred calories either way, but it will give you a starting point: http://www.hussmanfitness.org/bmrcalc.htm If there have ever been any activities you've wanted to try, maintenance is a great time to look into them. If you're doing something because it's fun you're likely to keep doing it and not feel like it's punishment. Martial arts was my thing. Other people become yoga or aerobics instructors or personal trainers. Some people train for marathons or join teams or take dance lessons. You might take up rock climbing or horseback riding or rollerblading or power lifting. The point is, you need to find some kind of sport or activity that makes you really happy, something you can't wait to get to. If you have that, you'll make it. You'll be healthy and active and able to enjoy your food options. If your " sport " is dieting and watching your weight, you'll always be in dangerous territory. > Hi all, I'd really like to hear from those of you who are out there maintaining your weight/bodyfat %. > > I brought up the issue of maintenance (or lack thereof) before and Joni told me that EFL is the maintenance program. I still want to lose, but I want to start thinking about how I'm going to hold steady. And I'm sure many of us want to take a day or two here and there and just practice maintaining. Or do a week of maintenance, then get back to the lower body fat goals. You know, not all or none. Or even the week or two between challenges. > > I was able to accomplish that very well with weight watchers (back away Joni), but I'm not seeing how to do it with this program. Guest guest
1. You have to understand everybody is different with what works for them. Keep a daily food diary it helps you look back & see what might be a problem for you 2. Buy a 'HCG weight loss cure guide' by Prinster It has a food guide in it to tell you what's allowed every phase of the diet (it's my HCG Bible I take it with me everywhere) 3. Read all food labels when grocery shopping. Protein - BEST, Fiber - Good, Fat - OK, Sugar & Starch NO-little, if any **I eat a protein bacon, sausage, eggs (deviled eggs, omelets), or string cheese with a fruit (anything except mango, & melons) for breakfast **I eat a salad once a day. (Lg chef salad with ham, cheese, dressing, bacon bits, sunflower seeds, seasonings, melba toast or grissini sticks crushed for croutons. or just a sm side salad with my lunch or dinner **All meat is good the higher in protein the better, the lower the fat even better (super lean ground beef etc) **Pork Rinds (all protein & a little fat) & Homemade Peach Salsa (all fruit & veggies) is my favorite snack lately other snacks Apples w/ Peanut Butter, Fresh fruits & veggies, Almonds, Peanuts, Jerky Sugar Free & Fat Free Jello/Pudding/Popcicles (I only allow myself 1 of these per day) Main thing is... I eat when i'm hungry. 6-7x a day, even if it's just a small handful of nuts or a fruit/veggie. even a popcicle/jello or pudding. I get at least 1500-1700 calories a day... any less I noticed I gain the next day. Hope this helps... Guest guest
Just started on phase 3, my 3 day today and am eating exactly as Pam wrote below. So far so good...Up one pound today, but I think it may be because I had two sugar free popsicles last night just before bedtime and awoke several times during the night thirsty as all get out and loaded up on water. Guest guest
The steak day worked! I lost two pounds on the nose. That was yesterday. This morning I am down .6 of a pound from my last injection weight. I lowered my calories to around 1500 and that seems to work for me. I'm sure that it is different for everyone. The trick is to watch the scale and keep a list of everything you eat. Count the calories so that you can look back and see whether you need to increase or decrease to stabilize your weight. The info of 11x my weight was way to much for me but might work for someone else. Deborah > > > > > > Is it possible to do 2 steak days in a row? Guest guest
Thanks for some good ideas... I'll try these tomorrow. From: D C <dreamingofafrica45@...>Subject: Re: Maintenance Date: Sunday, May 31, 2009, 6:49 PM Here's my yesterday (most days are pretty similar): breakfast: mushroom, spinach, and swiss omelette (2 eggs, 2 tbsp cream, 1/2 c mushrooms, 1/2 fresh spinach, 2 oz swiss cheese) around 370 calories lunch: cheeseburger minus the bun (lean ground beef patty, 2 oz cheddar cheese, tomato, onion, pickle, low-sugar ketchup, mustard, miracle whip **I use two large peices of lettuce in place of buns) around 300 calories snack: 2 oz almonds - 340 calories dinner: chicken lettuce wraps (chopped, seasoned chicken breast wrapped up in lettuce with tomato, onion, miracle whip, mustard, and cheese) around 400 calories dessert: homemade icecream with splenda instead of sugar - around 400 calories Total cals for the day: 1810 I'm continually surprised that I can eat a decent sized portion of my homemade ice cream (which contains a lot of fat, ie. cream) and not gain a bit the next day. I'm on day 11 of maintenence and I've eaten ice cream almost every night with no weight gain. I've also been eating sugar-free jello (10 cals per serving) as a snack when I'm craving something sweet. Other meal ideas: chicken caesar salad (find a ceasar dressing with no carbs/sugar) taco salad - ground beef w/taco seasoning (use the one with the least carbs/sugar), lettuce, tomato, cheese, spicy ranch dressing. Note: I'm really eating NO fruit. I've been able to eat a few strawberries with no gain, but I've been too afraid to try anything else. I am very concious about my total carbs/sugar each day. For example, if I eat cottage cheese for a snack, I won't eat almonds (both have carbs). I try to get at least 1700 and not more than 2100. I"ve not been eating out because there's no predicting what restaurants put sugar in. Hope this helps! I know it's scary to eat MORE, but it honestly helps.
