Guest guest
Have had good success with Laktoferrin from Allergy Research (bovine sourced colostrum, please don't kill me Sunny!). Chocked full of IgA, IgG, and IgM. My 8 y.o. has 1/3 of his class out with colds. He started to get ill, one dose @ bedtime, right as rain in A.M. Meanwhile, other kids are out 4-5 days. It is especially good for " stomach flu. Guest guest
with stage IV lung cancer, I had no choice but to have the flu shot. Bev. flu season Has anyone on this list had their flu shots and what are your views on having the vaccine vs. not being immunized for this strain of the flu which is supposed to be extremely virulent? Guest guest
I agree. As someone above the median age, I have had good results with flu shots over the last 5 years, compared to the 5 years before that when I came down with vicious flu-s -- you know, the kind where first you're afraid you're going to die, and then, you're afraid you're *not* going to die. I understand that this year there is a particularly mean variant going around. Anyone with pulmonary complications, like Samterites, should take this precaution. regards, Ken West From: " McGrail " <dkncmc@...> Reply-samters Date: Mon, 8 Dec 2003 16:54:04 -0600 <samters > Subject: Flu season I hope all you Samterites in the Northern Hemisphere have had your flu shot! If not, go get one before it's too late.... Karla (in Iowa)
Guest guest
Just got our computer back to where it will turn on internet access so I am way behind in e-mails etc. Well, this is the first time in YEARS I have experienced a flu virus. I have been around so many people and never came down with it (in 1999 nursed five girls and our son at our house at the boarding academy where we live, never got it; every year I hug and encourage kids, find out they are sick and never got it). This one is particularly contagious and hits quickly. Our son and a ton of his school friends have had it~ said his throat hurt and he got sick immediately (just like a flu virus~quick and nasty) with headache, cough, high temp, sore throat (he said it hurts like a bitch~how true is this, I discovered), crawling skin, aching body everywhere. I can't remember when our son (17-1/2 years of age) last asked me to rub his back or took a bath to soak (I take them all the time normally). Anyway, last Saturday night the sore throat and cough hit, then the aches and headache, for me no fever but crawling skin from the aching. I was telling this is how we feel with FMS all the time, but that's not quite accurate~we don't hurt quite this badly. This is day three and hopefully will be less soon as I want to travel for Christmas and will be around a pregnant niece and two babies. I have been popping extra Immune (which includes goldenseal and echinacea) and Valtrex, 4 ibuprofen every 4-6 hours for the aches (even took Vicodin the first night I hurt so badly). I never get flu shots~they make me worse anyway. Why this year? Who knows. We are still stressed in our family~my father-in-law was just diagnosed with a rare blood vessel cancer that Stanford only sees two cases a year. With chemo there is a 30% survival rate, and he already is dealing with CFS/FMS, diabetes, clinical depression and panic anxiety, a hernia, food allergies (that he ignores) and now this. My husband is very stressed and trying to deal with the last of his imediate relatives being sick since 2001 when we've lost 8 family members to cancer, muscular dystrophy or heart disease. I hope this virus bypasses all of you and your dear ones. Hope your holidays are not too stressed and difficult for you. There is a lot of sadness and depression this time of year, and our group has been experiencing it already with the passing of ~I cried when I read of his death as I caught up with the messages!!! I am so blessed to be loved and understood by my family and husband (even though his family was always dysfunctional from so many ailments). I remember in 2003 when I first went on my food allergy diet, I wanted to cry at the Christmas dinner as there was nothing at the table I could eat at the time and I was feeling mighty sorry for myself. While they all ate turkey, stuffing, potatoes, jello salad and pumpkin pie, I ate rye krisp crackers with almond butter (my rotation for the day). I can now eat a lot more even though still careful. So I sympathize with those of you who are limited~no fun but better to feel good and not indulge. in La Selva Beach on Recup since Jan 13, 2005 (two sachets to start, now usually one per day) sick since childhood, now age 53 years young
