Guest guest
Hey Robin! Congrats on your 1st challenge! I started out in a 13 and I'm in 11's now after 5 weeks. I wonder if I could be a size 8... Well I never thought I would be a 11 either I always thought I was destined to be a 14/16... Good luck on your next challenge and welcome to the group!!!! ~kim Day 1 Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I'm starting a new challenge today. My first one was a year and a half ago. I got into comfortable shape (from flabby size 14 to a toned size 8), but now I'm ready to get into great shape (a hottie size 6)! I've kept up my workouts, and it's actually become a great hobby for me. Not something I dread doing at all anymore. My eating habits however, are... well... I realized I had to find some support for this part, so here I am. I've been reading the posts and it's already been a great help. The hardest part for me may be the alcohol because I sure love to party. And I now have a wonderful man in my life, but not sure how this way of eating is going to go over with him. But I have to do this for myself. Looking forward to working out with you all and hope you'll help to keep me accountable. Robin
Guest guest
Hi Robin! Welcome to the group! I don't know how I would have made it through my BFL challenges without some support, either. It is really great to be able to post here. How did your first day go? Alcohol was one of the hardest things for me to give up too. I didn't really realize how much I relied on it in social situations to feel accepted or to just get comfortable. I know there's lots of people here who would agree with me that their progress has been helped immensely once they got rid of it, though. It takes your body something like 4 days to get rid of it after you drink, and during that time, your body's not burning any fat, since it looks at the alcohol as more toxic than fat. Not to mention that alcohol is a depressant and saps my motivation to work out and eat right. Good luck during your challenge! Keep posting. Guest guest
Carey... Don't be scared. Just make up your mind that you are going to do it and JUST DO IT. It will change your life. In May of 2001 I started BFL, lost about 20lbs, went from a size 10 to a size 2. I've maintained it with minimal effort for over a year now and if I can do it, anyone can Best of luck and keep posting! Lynda

Guest guest
> > Don't be scared. Just make up your mind that you are going to do it > and JUST DO IT. I am not crying a river...this is reality for me. I am not scared, I am terrified. I am a smidge over 5'1 and I weight 250lbs. I have tried to change my eating habits so many times I don't think I can count that high to tell you. I am scared of change and scared of failure. Scared because...anyone who has had and beaten an addiciton knows that at first it is like losing your best friend, and it is so hard...but later you realize that you have been freed from slavery. So sure my mind gets made up at night before I go to bed, and in the morning when I wake up, but later on in the day my will power seems to fade, and I usually give in. I know BFL works, I have tried it before and lost weight, but my sticking power is the issue. I know the reason I have not been able to stick with it, and I am going to be pouring all my effort into changing it. Also, I had a problem with alchohol when I was a teen, quit that, smoked two packs a day for 10 years, quit that, turned to food and it is my last and hardest addiction...Lord willing, I can quit this too. Anyway, not to be a downer....I am doing great so far. And because of my schedule today, I don't have any time to cheat. I am doing this one day at a time. Have a great day ladies!!! I know I am going to have a wonderful one! Carey
Guest guest
P.S. I really didn't want to sound like a " poor me " before. I am actually really excited. Guest guest
Hey Carey - I think I knew where you were coming from....although we may hate our " bigger " selves, the extra weight is also a nice big blanket that shelters us from the world...it's what we can blame all our problems on, and it IS scary when the time comes that you know you are ready to shed the barrier. I started my second challenge today...it feels great to have such control again! Good luck to you :-) Amy > P.S. > > I really didn't want to sound like a " poor me " before. Guest guest
Great attitude Carey, I am just starting today too. I am taking it one meal at a time, one day at a time also. I didnt get to this point from one chocolate bar....its been years of eating the wrong things. It will take some time for us to readjust to eating healthy, and it will take our bodies time to adjust too. We WILL do this!!!! M > P.S. > > I really didn't want to sound like a " poor me " before. Guest guest
Congrats on getting out of bed and to the gym!!! Is there a reason you are doing cardio on the days you lift? C
Guest guest
I do cardio kickboxing on mondays and fridays 1 hour and wednesdays 2 hours. I have been doing it for years and love my club so I will not give it up. Therefore I do weights those mornings as well. I do 20 min cardio on tues, thurs, and sat. I also do pilates tues, thurs, sat nights. I know this may seem like alot but I know my body and how it responds to workouts and my body can take alot. The problem is I like all of these activites but I am not good at regular cardio. (ie running, stepper, eliptical) So part of my challenge is to be able to do 20minutes without stopping on these machines. Anyway... had a great day, didn't cheat at all. Gonna go for my nightly epsom salt bath and read. Hope everyone had a good BFL day. tam

Guest guest
Great start! I keep a half gallon thermous of ice water in the car when I am going to be driving for a bit. I use a 44 oz cup with a loooooong straw. Really easy to get the water in that way, too.
