Hi again Carol.

Yes, as long as it also measures in grams and has a tare function on it.

Most scales that you buy today are battery or electric operated, I have

older manual scales and I can only turn the tare function back so far and

that is it, so I am not sure how the electric ones work as to maximum weight

you can weigh. This could be important if you ever want to make large

batches of soap, you will need a scale that can accommodate the weight of

your container-preferably the mixing pot-and the weight of your oils.

Hi Dorothy.

I just bought a scale that was delivered a couple of days ago. It reads in

grams or ounces, can be plugged in or operate on batteries. It will read to

0.1 gram, I'm not sure about the percent in ounces as I was interested in

gram weight only. As this list does not allow us to mention suppliers I will

email a link to you in a separate email. If anyone else wants the link,

email me at the address listed below.

Office Depot has a scale for about $75 made by Sunbeam. It measures in

tenth of an ounce increments.

Try looking on Ebay or any other auction site. I bought one via

Ebay. It just arrived and I haven't opened it yet, but there were

many different types available. I got mine at the best price I had

seen.

careful of the ones u buy on ebay, most of those are not worth it and they

are over charging on them. There is one thats selling like mad on there now

that has a lithium battery, you CANNOT replace the battery once it dies, you

have to toss the whole scale..Oh shoot, I cannot remember the name of it,

but there are hundreds of this one brand being sold on ebay and other

auctions..I like the one I got from scalesusa.com and it has a 9v or a plug

in (ac/dc) choice, which is really nice.

I got my scales on E bay, brand name is Escali, and it measures oz, to the

tenths, and in grams, so I can easily make Small 1 lb batches of soap with

" accurate measurements " ! Cost was $50.

You guys are a riot. Thanks for the laughs. I know they'll make

this a much more enjoyable experience. I like your idea of hiding

the scales. I'll just set them in the middle of my teenage daughtes

bedroom floor and they'll sink into the pile. The problem would be

finding them on the 8th week. Metal detector???

I think this is just one of those YMMV things. I need those numbers to

stare me in the face every morning. :) Of course there's a fine line

between using it as a tool and having it as an obsession. :)

Someone told me that a recent study found that weighing often does help with

weight loss. I looked at cnn.com and my local news website but I can't find

any details. Has anyone heard of this study?
