Shoes and sock question

Hi, Y'all (yes, we really talk that way in Texas)

I know a lot of us need wide shoes, since our feet get shorter and

some of us wear insoles or AFOs. I measure a 6.5 EEE, and finding

wide shoes has been a lifelong challenge -- even before the CMT

really began to change my feet. I discovered Hush Puppies brand

runs really wide. I order the shoes online, either from Nordstrom

or the Hush Puppies site. I find that Hush Puppies " W " width is the

same as an " extra-wide " and that the " WW " is too wide for even me!

My CMT feet are the kind with the very high arch and instep. Of

course, I can't wear any shoe that doesn't tie up or have some kind

of strap to keep it on my foot. If I try to wear women's pumps, the

shoes fall off my feet and stay on the floor behind me when I step

forward! (lol!) When I need a " dress up " shoe, I take a pair of low-

heeled wide pumps to the shoe repair guy and have them put straps on

the shoes for me.

So, now a question for y'all that still have sensation in your

feet... How do you keep your socks from mashing up your toes when

you put on your shoes? Anybody know a trick to help with this?

I know what you mean - my feet measure 12 1/2 kids wide (which is

really difficult to find), although I usually wear a size 2 to get

my arches in. With kids shoes, I can usually find shoes with straps

(very elegant, I must say), but often the straps are too short. So

I mostly don't get dressed up and just wear gym shoes - K-Swiss or

New Balance have good arches in them.

Folly,

Great tips on shoes. I actually had a shoe fall off as I stepped down

in front of 50 people at church.

I wear thin socks from Target that are soft and comfy.
