I don't do exercise videos at all, but the point is to do 20 minutes

of HIIT, which means you progressively increase your intensity level

until you're doing the highest level you can, a 10. If the video

allows for that, then sure; otherwise, perhaps you can incorporate as

extra cardio one or two days a week.

If you use the bike, crank up the level, so it gets harder and harder

to pedal, but don't slow down the RPMs; otherwise you won't hit your

10s. I find it difficult to do HIIT on anything but a treadmill or

stairmaster; these two machines really force me to crank up the

intensity, and I have to keep up, or I'll fall off. LOL I find that

the elliptical trainer and bike don't work quite as well, because I

control the speed.

Not that I have heard, but be careful because I have been told your energy is not there because of the lack of calories you are (not) consuming

From: livy111us <livy111us@...>Subject: Excercise question Date: Thursday, June 18, 2009, 8:40 AM

I know we are not supposed to excercise because we will not lose weight the next day. But from what I have read, it is just your body retaining water and has nothing to do with the amount of fat lost. Is this true? If this is the case, one could work out while on this diet and still lose just as much, if not more fat, correct? Are there any other implications for working out while on HCG?Thanks!

I have done hcg about 3 times(almost there). I found this last time that when I

was on a cycle like the ones for spin classes that if I did 30min. and burned

about 400 cal. I lost 2lbs every day that I did it. I know you can't tear down

any muscle because then the calories you do have go to rebuilding the muscle

which is counter productive. However there is no difference between a couch

potato exercising (cardio-moderate) then a nurse who is on her feet for 12 hrs

straight. The same calories are being burned and the same amount of energy is

being used. It is just exercise seems to be taboo on the protocol but if done

correctly that is not he case and it can be benefitial.

EXCELLENT news, thank you! Did you excercise daily, or a few times a week? I was

a runner before the diet, so my body is used to burning calories. Do you think

that will help because the muscle should already be there? I'll try to do 1/2

hour of excercise (running) tomorrow morning. Do you think that will work to my

advantage?

Thanks again!

I exercised daily!! I would get on the bike for about 30 min. It wasn't as

much the time but the calories burned. I would burn about 400 each day. The

days I did it I lost 2lbs provided I drank plenty of water. Dehydration will

cause you to retain water. It was also better if I went before I ate. That way

I wasn't as hungry later. I felt better because I would burn calories then eat

a meal. Oh on the days that I didn't exercise I only lost about 1lb. I def.

saw a difference.

I’ll be really interested to read the response as I’m trying to figure this out too. One reason I’m doing hcg NOW though vs once school starts is because my exercise schedule was/is more rigorous during the school year. Now, I tend to be busy playing at the park, waterpark, etc. with the kids, so that stuff is my only exercise. My kids aren’t old enough to go it alone those places, so I’m very actively involved.... In fact, my youngest complains if I sit down for even 5 minutes at the park. LOL

This is very interesting results. I definitely am glad to see this discussed prior to me receiving my hcg. I need to ponder it all and figure out what I want to do about the exercise thing....

my husband and i are both doing the diet and we are going to the gym everyday.

2 days into the diet we both noticed a lost of strength in weight training for

him and my walking slowed, i would also get dizzy after a 30 minute walk. we

both increased our protein when we needed to and still had weight loss. i admit

it is harder after day 6 to exercise. swimming is pretty much the only thing we

both can handle now. about an hour of recreational swimming in our pool. hope

this helps.

I started walking toward the end of my first round and did okay. When I start my second round, after I get through the awful first week, I plan to walk again. I'll probably bring along my apple just in case I start feeling weak. From: bel <belfle3040@...> Sent: Saturday, June 20, 2009 5:10:19 PMSubject: Re: Excercise question

you are not supposed to exercise on the protocol.

500 cals is barely enough to stay alive and you cannot build muscle on this protocol

I think this is a gross exaggeration. There are many

of us who are used to exercise and have a body that is conditioned for it

(meaning, it already has good muscle tone). On 500 calories, I had NO

problem having enough energy to exercise.

The reason why I exercise while on this protocol is to maintain

the muscle mass that has been built up through consistent exercise before the

diet starts. All indications are, when one is no longer dieting,

the ability to maintain the weight is significantly affected by the amount of

muscle one has.

You are maintaining your muscle NOT BUILDING. On the 500 calories a day you cannot build muscle. Most pople who do 500 calories a day feel a lot of muscle weakness making it very hard to do exercise. This is what my MD told me.

Hi,

I finished my first round of Hcg on Friday. The clinic I was going to

recommended an hour of exercise a day (one day of endurance training,

two days of interval training, 3 days of strength/resistance training,

and one day for " functional training " like kickboxing or yoga.) I know

this isn't following the protocol but thought you would benefit from my

experience.

I started the exercising a month before the Hcg. The first weeks of the

injections, I was very sluggish. I had to stop several times to walk up

a big hill -- which is atypical. But, it subsided. Before the end of

the six weeks, I was looking forward to each exertion and had plenty of

energy.

So, not sure what the protocol recommends but I know your energy returns

despite the 500 calorie intake. Your body needs time to adjust --

which, if you think about it, is totally amazing!! Our bodies are

wondrous creations!

I move to P3 tomorrow -- which is also modified by the clinic -- but

will be lurking each day on the conversations. I have sure enjoyed

reading the postings and want to acknowledge our moderators. Aren't

they great? Answering all of our questions and doing everything they

can to make us all have the body/life of our dreams? THANK YOU!!!

You are a courageous group!
