ONLY 30 minutes! That would have been a dream for me! I would usually take two roxisets at the first awakening and then every 45 minutes or sooner as the pain progressed until I'd have taken 5. If it continued after that I would awaken my wife to drive me to the hospital.

My "technique" was to lay over the couch, kneel on the floor and assume the position of bowing to the east, west north south (depended upon what was in the way or the best clearing) then back up to full stretch back and then back to the bow again, sitting in a chair with a back height that would let me raise my arms and stretch back. These positions may have been done in rotation or appear to be like they were being done at the same time. Who knows when you're in that much pain just how much you can remember. I would also push on my liver area to feel for the most tenderness.

My pain would usually start on the front side and then go to my back ,and then sometimes would be in both areas at the same time. Once the oscillation between the degrees of pain started I knew it was backing off. It was almost like the program would start with all steps moving forward and then get to a point where it was two steps forward and one back, then two forward and two back, until it got to being two back and only one forward. I went through this so many times last year that it almost hurts just thinking about it.

Subject: coping skills needed

I have a question for those of you who have experienced multiple gall bladder attacks: What coping skills do you use while you are having one? When the attacks last about 30 minutes and are extremely painful, has anyone found any particular position or motion that helps to make it tolerable? What do you do? Is there something you take to make the pain more tolerable? Or does everyone curl up in a fetal position on the cold bathroom floor and feel like crying even though they can't breathe? ,

My doctor gave me a prescription for Percoset, but only because I apparently

have no gallstones. Even though I hate having to take it, it takes the pain

away.

I'm just wondering. If you have no gallstones, why do you have pain? Or is

that from something else?

Thanks,

I'm not sure if you were asking me or , but for me, an ultrasound

showed sludge, no sstones. A hydroscan (I think that's what it is called)

during an attack two years later showed no blockage. I have an

appointment with a gastrointerologist in three weeks, maybe he can tell me

something else. The pain is increasingly frequent. It is very strange

though, because it is only at night, and always hours after I have eaten. I

am confused and discouraged.

Debra, I would be curious to know how your visit with the gastroenterologist

turns out. I am to see the surgeon again on the 23, and he is at that point

going to refer me to a gastroenterologist. Like you, this pain baffles me.

, you should feel better a little later. I always, and I am sure

everyone, feels terrible the day following a flush. I usually feel pretty

recovered by 4 or 5 pm. laura
