Your trainer is correct, I looked it up:

protein foods provide 4 calories per gram

so 400 calories per 100 grams.

So are we all doing this incorrectly?

I am wondering if it should be 100 grams for the whole day. When I eat the 100 grams I am so full I feel sick. I am going to cut it back to 50 grams and see what happens. please check out about.com to get info on amount of protein per ounce of beef,

chix, fish

etc. you are eating 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of item but not necessarily 100

grams of

protein. For example beef has 7 grams of protein per ounce 7 grams x 4

calories per

gram = 28 protein calories/ounce of beef. 28 protein calories x 3.5ounces = 98

protein

calories per serving.

hope this info is helpful.

You guys, that's 4 calories per gram of protein. 100 grams of meat

does not have 100 grams of protein. I think 100 grams of chicken

has like 29 or 40 or something like that. So it's 4x 40...so that

sounds right since 100 grams of chicken has 160 calories or

something like that.

100 grams equals 3.7 ounces. If we are eating 3.7 ounces of very lean protein 2 x per day, this site http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/obesity/lose_wt/fd_exch.htm lists it at 35 calories per ounce, so that is 259 calories for the 2 protein servings of 100 ounces each.

Yes, nutrition information typically lists 4 calories per gram for protein or carb and 9 calories per gram for fat, but I guess that is some other kind of gram. Perhaps volume instead of weight?

Hi, The correct amount of protein is 100 grams or 3.52oz. Here's a copy of the page from Simeons Protocol. It must be some other reason. Are you drink ing enough water? His diet is slightly different from KT's. No melba toast or shellfish on KT's but otherwise its the same. I was at a stand still too for a bit but I noticed was losing lots of inches. Have you checked your measurements? Personally, the inches are more important to me than my weight. My clothes are getting too big down almost 4 sizes now. Its all good. Have an awesome day! Sharon

The Diet

The 500 calorie diet is explained on the day of the second injection to those patients who will be preparing their own food, and it is most important that the person who will actually cook is present - the wife, the mother or the cook, as the case may be. Here in Italy patients are given the following diet sheet.

Breakfast:

Tea or coffee in any quantity without sugar. Only one tablespoonful of milk allowed in 24 hours. Saccharin or Stevia may be used.

Lunch:

100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking, and the meat must be weighed raw. It must be boiled or grilled without additional fat. Salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed. The chicken breast must be removed from the bird.

One type of vegetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.

One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast.

An apple or a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit.

Dinner :

The same four choices as lunch.

The juice of one lemon daily is allowed for all purposes. Salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil, parsley, thyme, majoram, etc., may be used for seasoning, but no oil, butter or dressing.in. Here's the protocol Hi! Hi, yes, I eat 100 grams of protein (I stick to chicken, beef, and white fish), I have either cuc, tomato, cabbage (boiled plain, and then sprinkle pepper), spinach, salad, or asparagus (the others I can't tolerate), and I do one of the fruits, and make sure lunch is different from dinner. I drink 2+ litres of water a day, a cup of coffee black in the a.m., then mid-morning green tea, then yerba matta in the mid-afternoon for a perk-me-up, and then the camamile after dinner. I also go to the gym and work out on the elliptical for 30 minutes and burn 300 calories, and also do 15 minutes with weights (not strenously though), but at least I go. I sit out on my deck and have lunch in the sunshine. So I guess I will just stop complaining about my plateau and be grateful for what I have lost, and will just totally assume that the weight loss will continues at a rapid weight when it wants to. Thanks for everyone's input and support.

Hi Shirley, Try changing up your workout. I switch around on the machines between eliptical, and tredmill and leg thing at Planet Fitness. Then I do weight machines. I was told by trainer to switch workout every other time. May be that will help too! Enjoy your deck! Sharon

Hmmm... I'm still on the Vidalia onion issue. It does say that we're to pick only one type of vegetable and onion is in there. Now I'm confused??? It was a small onion, but none-the-less, I did eat the whole thing!!! I'll stay away from them just as a test and will let you all know what happens!!! Thanks for listening! Just to add my 2 cents worth ... I was using the eliptical a few months ago (before this protocol) and "dieting". I was using it 5 days per week for 45 minutes each day, going like a bat out of hell and guess what ... I didn't lose a pound!!! Not one single pound after 1 whole month. Everyone said I was building muscle, but if that's the case... they can keep that muscle!!! Okay ... I feel better having added my 2 cents! Enjoy your day! Hi Debbie, you may just had hit the nail on the head, since muscle weighs more than fat, I may be losing the fat, but building muscle (or at least toning), at the same time. I was actually going to go out and get a new bathroom scale to see if a new one read differently, as this one may have " busted a spring " with me getting on and off it for years now. But I will do an experiment and not go to the gym for an entire week starting today. We will then see. Doing the apple thing again today. But I think you may have just hit the nail on the head. Thanks so much for everyone's brain storming.

Positive Thoughts and Best Wishes, Shirley

burning fat at all)))it's only bulk you up.Even if you work out with

correction, elliptical does not build muscle.....eating protien and doing resistance training builds muscle. You are correct that you weren't losing much fat (you should have been losing some weight) because of the Heart Rate thing. However if you do use the elliptical or anything that gets your HR above 60% of max, drink green tea or 8 oz of organinc coffee and this will allow (the caffiene) will allow you to burn more fat (scientific proof) quicker.
