Guest guest
Well thank you for the welcome. Surgery is supposedly not an option at this time the two neurologists didn't think it would help me right now they sited my age as being to young.36? Guest guest
I had the Perk Nuc surgery done in 1989. That's been a long time ago so I don't know how it compares to what they do now. I got relief for about 6 weeks. I stood up one day and turned and reherniated the disk. The ensuing pain was beyond belief and it was another surgery for me. Like I said, that was almost 20 years ago so I don't know that I am the best person to ask the question. > > Anyone here have a portion of a herniated disc removed with the > remainder of disc left intact? Guest guest
Hey , I must be the exception to the rule. They completely removed my L4-L5 disk in 1990 and did not do a fusion. My Xrays and MRI's are the proof. It shows bone on bone in that area with no fusion. Could be part of the reason that my pain is so severe. All I know for sure is that the whole thing is GONE! > > All Laminectomies, Discectomies remove only the > portion of disk that is protruding . Guest guest
It wasn't successful in relieving any of my symptoms, and a post-op MRI didn't show any improvement, either. In fact, it appeared as though he pushed more of the disc material to one side than it had been before. Are you looking into this for cervical problems? If so, I can give you more info if you'd like. Feel free to e-mail me at amcedu33@.... If it's thoracic or lumbar, don't put too much stock in my experience because it's probably a different procedure with different outcomes. > > > > I had small portions of 2 discs in my neck removed.
