First all, I like her salisbury steak from HE book the best (She has several)

however, neither my hsuabnd or I liked it with ketchup so we omitted that.

I do use turkey. But, here's my secrets. Never get the 1 percent. It is slimy

and weird! lol I get at least 7 percent fat (or 93% lean). She calls for 90

percent lean, but they don't sell that here. And the 93 percent is really good

here, so I stick with it. Plus I can buy it in bulk at Costco.

Secondly I season all her recipes more then she calls for.

All ground turkey recipes I add the following

Garlic Powder (quite a bit, but you may know what your family likes more then

me! I just shake what looks right in there!)

Worstershire sauce (gives it a beefy flavor!)

And then I usually use more seasoning (for instance italian) then she calls for.

And deffinately more garlic then she calls for.

And I usually add onions to the meat, if I think it will compliment the recipe.

This all flavors it well. (I got these tips from books a long

time ago, with turkey!).

Also if your hubby doesn't like tomato soup you may want to try it once with the

healthy request, cause it's quite different then the regular tomato. But, if he

still doesn't like it, try it with some of the other healthy request cream of

soups, like cream of chicken or cream of mushroom.

Try to adapt the recipes to what your family likes. It won't change the

nutritionals much. And that way every one is happy.

No green beans. You can try them but you will be taking a chance. Do

an internet search for 'hcg recipes'. You will find a lot. I bought

Tammy's cookbook at hcgrecipes.com. But there are plenty of recipes

posted for free at her site. hcgrecipes.blogspot.com. If you decide to

buy the cookbook use discount code HCGRECIPES. But try the free ones

first. I love the food and I am on day 49. You can usually eat a lot

of veggies if to take off the cals for the protein, fruit, grissini if

you use them and make up the balance with veggies. Try a handful. I

rarely get anywhere near 500 cals. Just keep the totals under 500 cals.

While fresh is great, green beans are not on the VLCD. Need to memorize the VLCD list and stick to it even if you have fresh stuff in your garden or available to you. Maybe you can can oar freeze them for later.

I take the 500 calories for the two meals and divide by 2. That gives me 250 calories for each meal.

I then take the 100 grams of protein and figure out how many calories that is from the beef, chicken breast, fish fillet or shrimp on the list and the quantity I have on hand. I subtract that from the 250 and the rest is available for the veggie I selected for that meal by my understanding of the diet. A "handful" is not much of a measurement that I can utilize effectively.

I think the most important parts of the plan are, in order of importance:

1. total calories

2. protein food

3. approved foods from the list

I don't eat the fruit allowed but very, very occasionally. And then, only the strawberries. I use them as a treat or reward. Sometimes I add a few frozen ones to a protein shake/drink.

I prefer cold marinated cucumbers as a veggie, cold marinated tomato slices as a different veggie, cooked sliced celery with dill weed, and raw or very lightly steamed spinach/greens for my veggies.

I add a mixture from Tone's spice brand that I get at Sam's Club called Rosemary Garlic to small bay shrimp that I cook in a dry, no stick saute pan I have.

I have also been known to use 93% lean ground chuck, cooked it, "washed it" to remove even the 7% fat, browned it, added onions, garlic and cumin, chili powder for a Mexican Mystery Meat Mixture and added my cooked veggie of choice to it, like cooked celery.

I also have done the same with Italian Herbs in the Tone's brand line and added garlic, sweet basil and had fresh spinach with it or chopped fennel that I cooked with the meat and spices.

I marinate in ACV, spices and water with a Pink Packet added.

I marinated chicken breasts in lemon juice and crumbled Tarragon.

I've been happy with this and my eye is more on the goal post than the next meal.

Hi I really need some help. I just started this diet and can anyone share some recipes? Or how much, My manuscript says to choose one veggie from the list but doesn't say how much. I got how much of a protein but nothing from the veggie list. Also are fresh green beans ok? I have a garden so I have some fresh ones. Thanks so much!!

I make a stew with canned tomatoes and shrimp that is so good that I'd

eat it even if I wasn't on this diet.

I use half a can of tomatoes, and about 2o medium cooked shrimp. I add

frozen cilantro and garlic and lime juice and some chili peppers and

whatever else seasoning you want. I've add lots of success with this

recipe.

I have also used whey protein powder as my protein when I didn't have

time to cook and that works fine as well.

I'm getting a flash on a Ceviche as well based on this. I too make cilantro ice cubes for storage.

What food is not improved by lime juice and a little chili?

How much have you lost in 49 days? that is incredible.

Like they say, divide your calories in two (250 per meal) wiegh the protein, wiegh your apple, then make the rst of the calories uo with the veggies.

eat only the foods on the list.

no fat or oils..

lots of liquids

good luck!

38.5. I am pretty happy. You can add to your list that the foods can

be spread out over the day.

Well, I have been on the HCG protocol since November 2007. I've lost 60lbs from November 07-January 08 eating green beans at least three times a week. My husband had lost 50 pounds. We took a break from February-May to see if we could really maintain the weightloss. Thankfully I maintained most of my weight loss except for 4.5 pounds; hubby gained twenty pounds back (because he did not follow completely through with phases three and four). Also, I've created recipes for my friends and and family who are also doing the protocol that have green beans in the recipes (I've used the french cut ones as a replacement for pasta in some recipes) and no one has yet to complain about not losing any weight due to eating green beans. So, I'd give it a try since everyone reacts to foods differently but no one I know has had any adverse effects from

eating green beans. FYI: a whole can of green beans (all 3.5 servings) are only 60 calories. So one serving of green beans especially if they are fresh should not throw the diet out of wack. Well, at least it hasn't here.

thank you for sharing that. In 3 months you lost 60 pounds? Am i counting that right. I know that was not the point of the email but i am stuck on it. good for you. Did you do the shots or oral? Did you go 6 days on 1 off? On Jul 6, 2008, at 1:30 PM, alisha frierson wrote:Well, I have been on the HCG protocol since November 2007. I must respectfully disagree. You are welcome to do this diet however you want as long as you are willing to accept your results as yours and not what can be achieved doing the diet properly, but you need to know that page 61 of Pounds and Inches tells us:

"Every item in the list is gone over carefully, continually stressing the point that no variations other than those listed may be introduced. All things not listed are forbidden, and the patient is assured that nothing permissible has been left out."

Also, pages 61-62 of Pounds and Inches states:

"It should also be mentioned that two small apples weighing as much as one large one never the less have a higher caloric value and are therefore not allowed though there is no restriction on the size of one apple. Some people do not realize that a tangerine is not an orange and that chicken breast does not mean the breast of any other fowl, nor does it mean a wing or drumstick.

The most tiresome patients are those who start counting Calories and then come up with all manner of ingenious variations which they compile from their little books. When one has spent years of weary research trying to make a diet as attractive as possible without jeopardizing the loss of weight, culinary geniuses who are out to improve their unhappy lot are hard to take."

You change this diet at your own risk and how are you to know how much more weight that you could have lost if you didn't do what Dr Simeons directly instructs us not to do, which is eat green beans because they are low in calories and the same as some other allowed foods.

Page 62 goes on to say: "There are a number of foods, particularly fruits and vegetables, which have the same or even lower caloric values than those listed as permissible, and yet we find that they interfere with the regular loss of weight under HCG, presumably owing to the nature of their composition. Pimiento peppers, okra, artichokes and pears are examples of this."

I remember those also, however I kept mine on the computer and when I got a

'new computer' seven years ago the files would not transfer over. (It

didn't help that the computer crashed.)

I just checked, and there is a file section set up for this mail ring Could

we put the recipes in there? Does anyone know how?

set up for all blood types. I'd sure like to know who her printer is. Deserts

was her 1st Blood Type recipe book and more were to follow.

I don't know how to do that, but perhaps we could put them on a disc and save

them.  I'd have to type all of Tabitha's into the computer before I could save

them that way.  Ugh.  Maybe I will look for them and send a few at a time.  I

have recipes from other people too.  I bet Max saved everything.  I sure miss

OK, I don't know why I didn't think of this before. I just did a search of

all our messages. I searched on 'Tabitha recipe', and there are 240

messages. I went back to the beginning and some of her recipes are there.

So you shouldn't have to retype everything. I will start my search for what

I need that way. You just need to know what you are looking for.

Any recipes prior to May, 2000, are not on this list. We had another list

that we abandoned due to disharmony in the ranks.

Do you remember Fran the Baker and her recipes? Her recipes predate this

list. Do you happen to have any of those?

Do you have a scanner? Can you scan them in and send them that way? I

would hate to have you retype the recipes. Maybe if you told us the recipe

names - we could let you know what we are interested in.

Thanks for 'saving' all those recipes.

I miss Max's sense of humor and honesty when responding to those of us with

questions.
