Guest guest
Unless you're in excruciating pain when you walk or run, it's not shin splints. Shin splints are small tears in the muscle where it attaches to the bone. They're nearly always caused by walking or running, not by weights. They're usually not lumpy although they can be temporarily if there's a lot of swelling. If you're not in pain I imagine you're just losing fat. Lean shins have all kinds of weird ridges and dents. :-) Shin Splints I have noticed my shins are not as smooth as they used to be. Is it possible my weight workouts are causing shin splints? I only use the bike and sometimes elliptical trainer for cardio, so I'm not doing anything high impact. Any advice on this? I don't want lumpy shins!! in NZ C1W10D2
Guest guest
*sigh* No, I'm not in pain. Are you telling me that I won't have the smooth sexy legs I had when I was a teenager? I must admit the only reason I noticed them was because I have been admiring my calf muscle definition. A few days ago one of the girls at work pointed out that she could see the muscles, and for the last few days I've been flexing like mad in front of the mirror. It's the only place I can see the fruits of my labour so far! I know the muscle is there in other places because I can feel it, but can't see it yet. My calf myscles look GOOD! Lance was gasping over them appropriately last night and pointed out that he can see all three something-or- others (heads??), and that he can even see definition at the front. I have calf muscles!@#$!# Pity about the lumpy shins though :-\ Are they veins or something do you think? Is there anything I can do to give myself model like legs? of the lean shins in NZ C1W10D3 > Unless you're in excruciating pain when you walk or run, it's not shin splints. Guest guest
Ok, are they lumpy golf ball shins? Or are they lean, ripped shins? Because you know how excited I got about my shins like a mailman. I wouldn't go back to soft, dainty, girl shins for anything. LOL Shin Splints > > > I have noticed my shins are not as smooth as they used to be. Is it > possible my weight workouts are causing shin splints? Guest guest
i've never seen lean ripped shins! if i grab hold of my calf and move it from side to side, the skin moves over the lumpy bits, which stay where they are. which is what made me think they were part of the bone. What are mailman shins? you have to know i'm picturing you with hairy scarred knobbly knees now! gah.... i can't stop flexing my calf muscles. this motivates me to want to get lean in other places too! I want lean shoulders next *nods* > > Unless you're in excruciating pain when you walk or run, it's not > shin splints. Shin splints are small tears in the muscle where it > attaches to the bone. Guest guest
My ripped shins are from walking 4 miles a day up and down hills, and wouldn't you know I have a picture of them. ;-) They're in my weird (very weird!) Guest guest
I weighed about 150 in that picture, probably not unreasonable for my height but my percentage of body fat must have been way up there. I have kind of a big Tweety Bird face so any extra weight goes right to my cheeks and chin. Re: Shin Splints , i just looked at your site for the first time. I always meant to, but never got around to it. you have a picture on there thay you say is the worst picture you have of yourself. Just curious as to how much you weighed at that point? That's about the size i am now. You look great now by the way. you have given me newfound inspiration. Thank you so much. Kenya
Guest guest
there is an exercise that will help...if you have a stairway, stand on the stairs facing the stairs, with your heels off the stair...then drop down your heels and then back up. kind of doing toe raises, but on the edge of the stair and lowering the heels. Guest guest
I'd recommend a good physical therapist who can teach you how to change your technique of walking/running, and can also give you some treatments both from therapist and teach you how to do your own. What were you doing that started them? dan Sunday, December 30, 2007, 8:48:49 AM, you wrote: > I was wondering if any of you had a good treatment for shin splints. > Mine are killing me. Guest guest
, I don't have any answers for you but noticed something you said which concerns me. Ibuprofen! I have to take it occasionally and presume the reason it may affect the band is if you take it on an empty stomach. Is there any other reasons I should be concerned about. I also take a daily tablet for reflux because of all of the other medications I take. Please let me know of any risks you may know of. Sorry I can't be of any help to your situation. Guest guest
anterior tibialis stretches near end of video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpLsUMvzGz8].
