Guest guest
I thought WW would offer some good menus after banding but then I found they use so much bread, pasta, rice and taters..I decided against it. I am on another group called Serious WW and these are folks with 100 lbs to loose. I do find inspiration and accountability..but precious little else that will help me as a new bandster.. Kem in Eugene 286/273/150 Dr. Neal 8.6.04 <º)))>< << The WW food plans are a bit different than what Bandsters need, but not a bad starting point, if you can make all the substitutes. Bandsters need to concentrate on more protein than I remember WW has, more veggies, and fewer fruits. No bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, etc. We're trying to use filling foods that will make the band work, and get in 50-60 grams of protein and 25 grams of fiber. WE do more veggies and few fruits, since both have vits and moinerals, but veggies are much fewer calories than fruits. If you can translate the WW plans to the bandster guideleines, more power! some find the accountability of WW useful, too. Guest guest
Kem, a few months ago i had considered joining WW for the accountability and weekly weigh in. i didn't have scales at home at all let alone anything that would go above 300. i went through some of my 2 year old WW material and realized as you did that there was still a lot of the breads, pasta, rice things and i just can't eat those thing so why pay a fee every month to weigh in? for some that may be ok. i'm really trying to not put money towards weight-related anything because i have put thousands of dollars in my years towards weight-related things!!! what i did is purchase a great digital scale that goes up to 440 pounds through Precision Scales. it has been wonderful. Even today i was saying i was so glad i got it. Plus i now meet with another person who is on WW on thursday nights in my home and we are accountable to each other plus we weigh in on my new scales. it has worked out great. We are also going through the book the Purpose Driven Life and find it extremely encouraging to redirect our lives away from food and on to better things. it's working and that's what counts - i think it's called behavioral changes. gayle in seattle 5/1/03 390/315/299 (formerly from Eugene) > ///I thought WW would offer some good menus after banding but then I found they use so much bread, pasta, rice and taters..I decided against it.///
