Carla,

I was banded on Sept. 12th NWWLS. I also take meds and found post op

some meds were difficult the ones I could cut with a pill cutter I did. The

other capsules I would take them with warm tea or broth. If you are meeting

with

she is great very understanding and supportive! I also started at 240

and I am now at 224.6 lol good luck to you!!

Good for you Carla. You are taking charge. My

experience was that doing some of the behaviours like

liquids, portions, exercise before surgery will make

your surgery and recovery easier. I was banded

10/13/05 as a self pay and believe it is the best

investment I could make in my life. My mom died in

August with part of her problems being weight related.

I injured my back taking care of her and used a

walker for 10 days in Sept then finished therapy end

of month. I was us to 1 1/4 miles walking once or

twice a day before surgery. Back to that and other

exercise now. One more week on mushy foods.

As far as discussing surgery with others...I am from

a very large {numbers plus also weight} family plus

large church family, so, bit hard to hide. I decided

much easier to tell people and be excited than try to

hide it. I don't have to worry about anybody breaking

confidence and can answer any questions with

enthusiasm. Figure better to get everybody on my team

to encourage rather than sabatoging in innocence.

I'm heading to a dessert meeting tonight and cooked

sugar free pudding [will give me some milk serving at

the same time]. No need for me to sit and drool over

somebody else's plate. I will enjoy right along with

them because I have planned.

Hope this helps. Kathy R.

Hi Carla, I was just banded on the 27th of Oct. and am doing well with minimal

pain. I take several meds a day as well and they go through fine. The pain

pills I took right after surgery were rather large and I cut them in half. They

were the size of a large vitamin. I just drink lots of water with them to flush

them through. I went back to work today and I was a bit mentally and physically

not ready but I did o.k. I am starting to feel hungry especially around dinner

time. I have told alot of people about being banded because I am very excited

to get losing and I want to share it. Today I watched people at work indulging

on a candy filled bucket and I was feeling fortunate that I am being spared at

this moment in time from joining in. Best wishes on your journey. I got a loan

for my band also.

Hey, Carla, I'd love to share my 2cents to your questions.

Email me directly to let me know which other lists you're on and

whether I can answer you on one of those, where the answer is maybe

better suited to be (see the weekly " Snip, snip " posts / calendar

entries on this list regarding appropriately discussion subjects for

this site).

I highly recommend SmartBandsters and for this kind

of information exchange!
