People I know who have tried it say the hassle one needs to go make it

frustrating.

With most if not all the companies, IF you qualify, and there are lots of

limits, you have to apply all over again every three months, as if they

didn't know you. The paperwork the doctors have to do every three months to

keep it going for you makes them cranky. Some refuse to do it.

By offering this the pharmaceutical companies can claim they are helping

low-income people, but they make it as difficult as they can to discourage

takers.

Perhaps someone else has had a better experience doing this.

Good luck.

For your information the following notice appeared in my loca

paper today. I checked a few pharmaceutical web sites. Some had

the info. readily available, some I had to search for, and some

I could not find at all. I used the term " patient assistance

program " . I'm not advocating buying the booklet, don't know how

good it is, just passing on the info..

Free prescription drugs: A well kept secret

Are your medications too expensive for your budget? If so, some information

in a new booklet might help you out.

" Many major drug companies provide free or low-cost medication, but rarely,

if ever, publicize the programs, " says Nave, director of The Institute.

" We've published an A to Z listing of all the drugs that are available

through patient's assistance programs, for free or at very low cost directly

from the manufacturer. "

The Cost Containment Research Institute in Washington, D.C. has just

published a 48 page booklet, " Free and Low Cost Prescription Drugs. " The

revised fifth edition booklet gives hard-to-find information on how and

where to get free and low cost prescription drugs.

Consumers can receive a copy by sending $5 to cover the cost of printing,

postage and handling to: Institute Fulfillment Center, Booklet #PD-85, P.O.

Box 210, Dallas, PA 18612-0210. Consumers can also get more information at

www.institutedc.org.
