Hi , can I recommend the Natural_and_Surgical_Menopause list on ? Actually, estrogen is usually not what needs to be supplemented, but progesterone, as ther are other organs than make estrogen, but not progesterone. And, we get estrogen in foods we eat but not progesterone, so most times, the symptoms of menopause are from an estrogen/progesterone imbalance, i.e., estrogen dominance.

Hi All,Zoe, thanks for starting this group. There's just not much out there on this subject. I feel like a guinea pig to some extent. I just found out officially that I have hypo thyroid...after suspecting it for 11 years, being told I'm either in range or borderline, suffered from polycystic ovarian disease, gained 80 pounds (ugh), and went through a hysterectomy last July. I'm 39, and feel like 80 many days.I'm happy I've found a place to share thoughts and experiences with others. I frequent the natural thyroid group also. I have started on iodoral yesterday. I didn't have the test for antibodies, so I'm somewhat nervous about that. I know I also have adrenal fatigue. I'm also taking DHEA, pregnenolone and estrogen. I'm hoping the DHEA is enough for the adrenals. I'm not so sure about the estrogen either. I'm taking it one day at a time. I've been on DHEA for about a month, and I do feel stronger. I'm now walking short distances and playing a little basketball with my girls.

----> Hi ,

I'm curious what kind of estrogen your doctor put you on?

I did bio-identicals all of last year and did quite well on them.

RIght now I'm off them and am ready to start again (my prescribing

doctor moved and need to find a new one).It took me some doing to

get doses and delivery system right. I ended up with an estrogen in

an olive oil base from Women's International Pharmacy in Madison WIS.

Very cheap and easy to use.

Have you looked at Vliet's work? She's got a book on PCOS.

i've not looked at it but her other books have been very useful.

I will definitely check that out, thank you. I always thought I had

estrogen dominance symptoms, and I also have always had low

progesterone...as in almost zero. I miscarried twice before the second

doc figured I needed it from day one. I'm going to look into that

further. THanks.

I'm on estrogel now...1 pump at night. It goes on easy and dries

quick. I was on the climara patch previously and it was always

slipping and itching to the point where I was getting the proper dose

anand I had red patches of what looked like burns. They took weeks to

heal. I really question now whether I need it or not at all. I HATE

taking it, and I basically did so because I was told to, knowing that

I would get the research done later. Well later is finally here, 7

months later:)

----> That's sounds like the patch base the estrogen is in is causing

reactions. Patches did similar things to me.
