Hi all,

For the past month I have been noticing I am loosing an awful lot of

hair..I don't mean just the regular shedding when I brush. When I wash

it, handfuls are coming out and when I comb it even more comes out.

Does anyone here know if this type of hair loss is lack of nutrition,

vitamins..???? My internist is a ditz when it comes to this and my

surgeon doesn't know. I've really noticed my hair is thinning out and

I've always had very thick hair. No one in my family has this so I

don't think it's in my genes. Any info would be helpful.

Kim, I have thin hair to begin with. Like a baby. I didn't loose too much hair,

but hair loss is a side effect of weight loss. People who loose weight very

quickly will usually loose their hair quickly too. I don't know if it grows back

better or thicker but I think it all grows back. I could only wish for thick

hair :) Donna

Bandsters do not have the major malabsorption that bypass peeple do

so we don't have a lot of hair loss, if our protein is good.

Some of us have a small amount of hair loss from the anesthesia in

months 3-6, but it grows back.

I'd see a skin doctor. This is sounds way more than normal for most

bandsters.

Kem,

The best thing I've heard for hair loss is both a daily dose of flaxseed and

to make sure you get in all your protein. That protein is the most

important, it's what feeds our muscles, including the heart. You don't want to

get

thin and then die of a heart attack.
