Guest guest
If you have an interest in iodine and pregnancy, I have added a LOT of new articles to that section of iodine4health today: http://iodine4health.com/body/pregnancy/pregnancy.htm I found two of the authors particularly interesting. Glinoer (from Belgium) has written EXTENSIVELY on the relationships between iodine, the thyroid, auto-immune disorders, and pregnancy. http://iodine4health.com/body/pregnancy/glinoer_pregnancy.htm Dorea (from Brazil) has written EXTENSIVELY on breast feeding, including the effects of environmental contaminants, mercury, lead, thiocyanates, iodine, and selenium. Her conclusion seems to be that breast feeding is always better when possible. http://iodine4health.com/body/pregnancy/dorea_pregnancy.htm Zoe

Guest guest
If you plan to start up again, you might also want to do a bromne test at the iodine dose you plan on using. Last year at the iodine conference, Dr. Shevin recommended always testing to see if the supplemented iodine is pushing bromine into the bloodstream during pregnancy. He recommended a blood test, but I think that was before the urine test was available. He recommended that because he said that bromine crosses the placenta more readily than iodine and you can't really know what dose will cause detoxing without testing. Of course that was a year ago and I don't know if there is anything new since then. I don't think we really know what bromine will do to a fetus. I have also been taking selenium, Vit. C, and celtic salt. I have recently had some trouble with an overly fast heart rate. In some of the iodine literature, it suggests that if this is experienced, one should discontinue the iodine for awhile. My question is...is there any problem with stopping the iodine (even though I've been taking a very modest dose)? I don't want to precipitate thyroid problems in my baby... Thanks. Guest guest
The bromide urine test was available last year. It has been around for a while just not to the general public as it is now. The reason he said to use the blood I believe is because to do the form of testing we are doing now with urine requires 50 mgs of iodoral to "challenge" the system. This pushes a lot into the blood stream which we don't want to do. With a blood test it shows how much normal circulation is occurring. Does that make sense? I think that was why they were recommending a blood test. I need to go back through my DVD's soon and listen to this conversation as this is coming up a lot lately. Guest guest
Well not exactly. If I remember correctly, he suggested to do the blood test while supplementing to see if that level of supplementation pushes bromine into the bloodstream. He said that although iodine is necessary for pregnancy, we should be very careful that the dose does not put bromine into the bloodstream. Guest guest
I am listening to it right now. Dr. Shevin did comment but I think there was more later on because he didn't go into much detail. I thought I remembered more. Guest guest
Iodine is related to brain and thyroid function of the baby. For the mother it will affect their thyroid, breast, ovaries. All glands and mucosal linings. I was deficient and I ended up with thyroid cancer and my son is ADD and hypothyroid (now almost 10 yrs and on 2 gr of Nature-throid). He is very bright - thank you God - so fortunately that was not affected. But babies with low iodine are called cretins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cretinism The think you need to be concerned with most as a mom taking iodine is how toxic are you. Iodine moves out toxic halides - bromide, fluoride and mercury. These will all cross the placenta and poison the child. I am toxic in bromide. Guess what? My son is also toxic. His levels were run a couple of weeks ago with the Iodine loading test and they were higher in some cases than some of the breast cancer patients. I would recommend doing an iodine loading test with halides before trying to get pregnant. Iodine and Pregnancy I'm not pregnant but would like to know what the diff in results are for thos who did take it while preg , was the dilveries easy ? ....were the weights of the babies lower? What are your experiences? I'm currently taking 12 drops of 2 percent daily what would be recommended if your trying to get preg or if you were preg ..All information/experiences on Iodine and pregnancy is very much appreciated Thanks and have a great rest of the day!
