Guest guest
Lynn, I had an allergic response that lasted about a month to topical tincture of iodine. See message 788 for details. I haven't had any problems with oral ioderal supplementation (except for some fatigue for the first week). No one else I know of (except perhaps you) has reported a similar reaction. However, most people seem to be using lugols topically, instead of the drug store tincture. My small bottle was sodium iodide and was several years old, was in alcohol and was in a small plastic bottle. I wondered if I might have been reacting to something else in the solution (perhaps plastics) instead of the iodide. I'd be interested in knowing how long long your reaction lasts. Best wishes, > Also I recently had surgery on my foot and have been using 2% > tincture of iodine on it as it wasn't quite healed well enough when > the stitches were taken out. Guest guest
, I hope it doesn't take that long to go away. It is raised and irritated and itches. As long as I keep ice on it, it doesn't itch so bad. I checked the expiration date, it's good until 2010. I use a compounding pharmacy here and they had to order it for me as they were sold out of it. I have been known to have some weird skin reactions occasionally. I remember as a child I had some strange welts appear on my thigh that the doctor never could figure out. Was on no medications or different foods that I wasn't used to eating. No other symptoms other than just red marks, not raised or itchy. That took a couple of months to go away. At any rate I'll let you know how long it take to go away.LinnOn Jun 4, 2006, at 6:13 PM, jacobleonesio wrote: Lynn, I had an allergic response that lasted about a month to topical tincture of iodine. It usually happens if I put too much on. If I just paint it, it is all right, but if I leave a glob on then it itches and looks irritated. I use Lug's. It will eventually go away, just paint the area. If you did just "paint" it and still are having a reaction, I would dilute it. You should still get benefits from it and should not irritate as much.
