Guest guest
<<Posted by: " sunnah114 " sunnah114@... sunnah114 Fri Dec 22, 2006 7:27 am (PST) Hi everyone I got banded on the 20th, so while I'm healing and looking at how to lose the weight. I plan to exercise and track my food.Has there been anyone who hasn't exercise and lost weight? My thing is I get real gunho about exercise and burn myself out. thanks Colleen>> Congrats on the band Colleen. When I was first banded the weight just seemed to fall of of me. Portion control and good food choices is what initially caused the first 60 pounds to drop off of me the first year. I had done some minimal exercising during this time and like you, I'd get gungho then burn out;-) The weight loss suddenly stopped when I had to have a total unfill for a few weeks. I regained about 10 and am still in a holding pattern with a 50 pound weight loss. It seemed my metabolism had already done all it was going to do on it's own. It was at this time that I began really trying to find out how to properly exercise as I wanted to loose at least another 50 pounds. Like you, I'd get gunho then burn out...sounds sort of like yo yo dieting doesn't it;-) Anyway, at this time I've gotten back on the exercise groove again and exercise almost everyday with my family members..but weight loss has not come. I don't know if it's because I'm going through the change of life or my body is just biding it's time.. I'm still battling the chocolate and liquid calories and that plays a huge part too I'm sure. Regardless, I feel better and have a lot more energy and stamina when I exercise more. There are some bandsters here that have worked out, lost their weight and now run marathons and climb mountains..that is so awesome. My suggestion is to try some different things out and change your routine from time to time so you don't get bored. When I first got banded, I did good to walk on the treadmill at 1.5 miles per hour for 5 minutes 3 days a week. Now I walk and bike outside but also have a treadmill and exercise bike in the house and try to do at least 35 - 45 minutes 5 to 6 days a week. I've got an awesome rowing machine and a ton of workout videos that I like. I have the Core Secrets Ball..which I'm sure I could make a comedy video with me on it. I have arthritis in my back and neck so the Ball seems to pull too much on my neck and I get hurt sometimes. In an effort to combat that I just ordered RED and the BEAN so hopefully my neck and back won't get hurt when I work my gut. I use 3 - 5 pound dumbbells for my arms and I have 2 really fun videos for those. I have also downloaded some of my favorite 80's and Country music onto my iPod and listen to that as I exercise...what a motivator! Do I enjoy exercise...eh, uh, NO, but do I have to do it...YES if I want to keep up my energy levels. Moving is good;-) This is a journey and I'm in it for the long haul. Best of luck to you with your new band and Merry Christmas;-) Kem in Eugene Dr. Neal 8.6.04 <º)))><
Guest guest
Patty, That's wonderful you're so close to goal! Good for you!! But i hope you'll start some exericse now, even at this late date. e. We're finding it's very essential to have built up spome good muscle along the way, from good exercise, as that is impt to be able to maintain. Many docs want a small unfill at goal, since you'll be needing to eat more to maintain, and the good muscle is impt to ft burning so you can maintain. Exercsie is also very impt for health - we need both cardio and light weight-trining for heart, muscle, joint, and spine health. When we'vre been obese, our bones and joints have really suffeered, so i hope we can all improve them with some good exercsie. Sandy r at goal x 3+ yrs > > Colleen, > I am embarrassed to say I dont exercise at all....I have lost 127 lbs without exercising...I am 3 lbs from goal and if I got off my fat butt and hit the gym, I would be at goal by now!! > Patty > 280/153/150 (maybe 140-145)
Guest guest
Sandy, Thanks....I know I need to exercise....Everyday I wake up and say, this is the day I go to the gym, get up and walk, etc. Everyday I hit that snooze button and get another hour of sleep. I know I need to exercise, I just need the right motivation....
