Guest guest
Hi, I'm doing some research before I get my labs next week and am wondering if anyone knows what can be used to suppress a hyperactive thyroid? I saw Lynn's post saying that Dr. Flecha uses lithium and copper, plus other minerals. I'm wondering if anyone has more info or experience with this? Any website you recommend? Thanks much! Guest guest
Hi Skipper, > If you're on thyroid medication, you would stop it. I'm confused...do people really take thyroid meds when they have an overactive thyroid? Sharon
Guest guest
IMO hyperactive means sick, it does not mean too much! to help sick thyroid I would use cortisol and iodine. gracia Hi, I'm doing some research before I get my labs next week and am wondering if anyone knows what can be used to suppress a hyperactive thyroid? No, but then I'm confused and some people have mentioned being hyper yet not lowering their medication. Guest guest
Ok Skipper, I totally misread your other post - I really thought you were recommending thyroid meds for an overactive thyroid. Rereading your post, I can't even imagine how I came to think that... But anyway, I'm no longer confused about that and I do agree with you now! Hoping that I am now clear, Sharon > >Hi Skipper, > > > > > If you're on thyroid medication, you would stop it. > > > >I'm confused...do people really take thyroid meds when they have an > >overactive thyroid? > > > No, but then I'm confused and some people have mentioned being hyper yet not > lowering their medication. > > Skipper > > _________________________________________________________________ > All-in-one security and maintenance for your PC. Guest guest
I used Armour for "overactive thyroid" and it helped. That's why I say there is no such thing as hyperthyroidism. You can be overmedicated or you can have a sick thyroid gland. gracia who is in a hurry Ok Skipper, I totally misread your other post - I really thought you were recommending thyroid meds for an overactive thyroid. However, on Shomon's website, biochemist Ray Peat said many with " hyperactive " thyroid in reality did need thyroid meds. http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/ray-peat.htm " In the last several years, all of the people I have seen who had been diagnosed as " hyperthyroid " have actually been hypothyroid, and benefitted from increasing their thyroid function; some of these people had also been told that they had Graves' disease. " I don't know how Peat confirmed they were hypothyroid, just like I don't know why the people were diagnosed as " hyperthyroid. " If one is suspected of being hyper, they'd have to run T3 labs or course, because it's the high T3 that makes you hyper and not the low TSH. I talked with someone in Canada who was being told she was hyperthyroid because her TSH was almost -0-, but then so were her T4 and T3 levels. Also, some people have had their thyroids out because a lack of Vitamin C can cause TSH and thyroid levels to elevate so it looks like you have hyperthyroidism when you don't. Guest guest
This is certainly what happened with me! I was always subclinically HypoT, low body temp etc. Since I've been on Armour, my antibodies went down. And yet, my dumb Endo wants me to lower my dose based on TSH! Duh. However that was after being on Anti-thyroid meds and being in hell for a year. No thanks. Guest guest
T3 may be high in the blood but it's not getting into cells. I believe Ray Peat PhD says that hyperthyroidism is extremely rare, and I agree. I would encourage "hypers" to get Iodoral and cortisol to help get hormones into cells. Hyperthyroidism is misunderstood, mistreated, completely outrageous and I hope there are class action lawsuits about it someday soon. gracia >From: "Gracia" <circe@...>> I used Armour for "overactive thyroid" and it helped.
