thats excellent!

Thank you Dan......don't know why I couldn't have thought of that

one......

Woo-Hoo for great ideas.

Breakfast Fiber

Here's a thought for those who need fiber for breakfast, and/or for

a snack. We buy the large boxes of Frosted Mini Wheats. Every six

of them is 50 calories. I package bags of them, 24 in each for me,

and that gives me a couple hundred calories of good fiber. Usually

I have oatmeal for breakfast, but then have a bag of these in my desk

drawer at work. I eat them as " snacks " . They are very filling if

I'm feeling a bit hungry in the middle of the day, and with them

pre-bagged there's no danger of me " going nuts " on them. Of course

you could put twelve of them in a bag and then have just like one of

those " 100 calorie bags of cookies " that you can pay a bunch of

money for from the vending machine or snack bar.

Just another thought that may work for you.

Another fiber choice that I have used before being banded and now

that I am on solids is Fiber cakes! they have a couple berries in

them. One of these little compact cakes packs 12-15 grams of fiber

depending on the flavor. I find them at Trader Joe's, and have also

found them at health sections of larger stores. I have one of them

and pair it with a solid protein or eggs for the morning, and will

have one later in the day as a snack. If you have a trader joe's

where you live try it...They have hand labels for everything and

they will write down great or good source of fiber if it meets a

certain amount of fiber per serving...so it is easy for me to search

it out.

Great recipe! any idea of the calories? (I always like to know so i

can figure daily intake) Ground flax seed is a great additive to many

things.

as well as good fiber, flax seed also has the essential OMEGA 3 oils

so needed for heart health. We need about 1000 mg/day, and most

people need a supplement unless they eat salmon nd other cold-water

fish 3-4 x a week.

I add flax seed to daily cereal , meatloaf, muffins like these,

granola for snacks, and lots more.

Dan,

DaVinci syrup is a coffee flavoring. It is available in regular and sugar free.

There are a lot of great flavors too. Check out www.DaVinciGourmet.com

Sandy,

The Flax has 60 calories for the 1/4c.The egg has about 79 calories

I believe. Not much in splenda or baking powderor cinnamin. The calories

for the cream cheese would depend on if it was full fat ot fat free.My

sugar free Davinci syrup has 0 calories.I would say under 200

calories.I have even added some special occassional treats like a few

nuts or raisins to it.I sometimes leave out the cinnamin and cook then

cool and toast it for a bread like item.I can't eat regular bread as it

plugs me but these muffins don't..I feel like i'm getting a real treat

and it is all very " legal " food choices. The ingredients are versital I

sometimes add nutmeg or different syrup flavors to change it up a bit..

I really enjoy these..

Thanks

Dan,

Sorry about that..It is 1/4 c. Davinci sugar free syrups are 0

calories, fat, carb, everything syrup added to foods and beverages like

coffee and teas for additional taste.I believe the web is

davinci.com.There are also brands named Torini sold at the local

albertsons or Smart and Final stores in my area.Davinci is sold on

line or at some stores like Marshalls or Ross Dress for less. They

run less than 10.00 a large bottle..Hope that helps clear this up

some..

sounds great ! A good breakfast, to me, is about 200 cal or so, with

lunch around 300, dinner around 650, and a couple good snacks , one

between b.fast and lunch, the other between lunch and dinn er - or 2

hrs after dinner or so, like yogurt. A total for most women of 1200-

1500 cal or so a day.

regular intake was very impt to me, as the band with a good fill and

good bandster meal, will keep us satisfied for maybe 3-4 hrs max.

If we allow ourselves to get really hungry, then we grab whatever is

in sight.

Your Muffin in a Minute sounded so good I just had to try it. I guess

that the flax was 1/4 cup. Unfortunately the idea of a muffin in the

morning for me was a big mistake. Oh, it tasted great, but the cake-

like consistancy allowed for about two bites and prompty got stuck. I

was in pain and slimed for an hour or so. I'm thinking this would be

better for me in the afternoon or evening. I even tried layering on

some butter to no avail.

I have most of my fill removed right now, as I am pregnant and due in

August, but mornings are still pretty restricted. For me it's back to

Kashi Go Lean crunch for breakfast. I'll keep the muffin recipe

around for those afternoon fiber snack ideas.

Thanks for sharing the recipe. It still amazes me how much each

person is different in what they can & can't get down.

I;m afraid tht most people with any restriction would have trouble

with any type of muffin or cake. the general guideline is that

anything that gloms together when we squeeze it into a ball is very

likely to get stuck and cause barfing and risk a slip.

This is especailly true in the mornings, when some are a bit tighter

than usual, becuase of the natural tightening of the esophagus

overnight. This is even worse if we are not very well-hydrated.

there are much more band-frindly ways to get the needed fiber-

cereals, veggies, fiber crackers under the tuna great for lunch, etc.

Sorry you had trouble, but it should not cause lasting problems

unless you hve trouble often. Still, every eposide of trouble risks a

slip or other problems, and we have to be diligent in avoiding them.

The slip and erosion rates are rising dramatically and are very

worrisome - up to 3-7 % now.
