Guest guest
Have to jump in here - we are all different in the way our ports/bods take fills. Most of us agree that they are pretty painless if you have a decent fill person. I have had fills with Dr. Kuri (the best of all fillers I have had!) and TRA - I decided after two experiences with TRA that it was not worth the money, time to get there and the hit or miss with the fillers - to go back. I went down one time with Bob - we saw several other bandsters there - we all had the same experience that day - a long wait in a pretty waiting room, a long drive down to them from Seattle and a nasty bruise and many pokes to get the fill (which in both my case and Bobs was not a good one) This experience was repeated the second time as well - luck of the draw maybe - who knows. For the $300 that they charge - I can get down to TJ for a two day mini vacation - including airfare and hotel - and have Dr. Kuri do the fill. Fills - when you are an out of country bandster are going to be part of the process - you just have to find a place that works for YOU and make it happen. The nice thing about going back to Dr. Kuri - is that I have him do a flouro when he does my fills - so we can see exactly how the band is working - restriction ect - there is really not much quess work involved there. So unless your stomach decides to be cranky - you can count on a great adjustment when you get the flouro. IMHO - I think the board is a great place to share your personal experiences - both good and bad - and to honor and respect each other. Let's play nice in the sand box folks. They give the fill and then tip the table up (with you on it) and check it with the goop stuff. Thanks ine - good information. Is there someone in particular you like working with there? I really feel, for the very first time in my life, that I can be permanently successful with weight loss -- and it's liberating! I do value my time, but I understand that things happen. I routinely accept a 15-20 minute delay every time I see my PCP. However, when it becomes unreasonable (I think 90 minutes is unreasonable) it's time to standup for oneself! I am sure the drs are less experienced with midbands here, but your success and the fact that you are so close to the century club in less than 5 months is amazing and speaks volumes about your self management! I used the place in Puyallup for my first few fills. I never waited long, customer service was excellent, they even did a follow up call after a couple days to check on how I was feeling. I particularly liked Dr. Reinbold. However, after my last fill there, they would not give me more than .3 cc's at a time, and they told me that they were no longer offering the return in a week for $50. tweak. At that point when I felt they were no longer listening to my needs for my care, I terminated my relationship with them. Now I fly to TJ and enjoy a little sunshine every couple of months, have my fills done by a busy band surgeon under flouroscopy and have complete peace of mind that my band is correctly filled and positioned. After wading through all the muck and dishonesty that is going on here lately, I want you to know that your successful stats uplifted me in my brain addled state today. It is wonderful to see your personal accountability and I respect your feelings about the value of your time. Best wishes on your continued success! Jan W. Guest guest
Well, I called there to check the price and was told they no longer do fills. so that was a big bummer. I am very disappointed with their decision and I sent an e-mail and ask why. I will reply when I receive an answer. ine T. Guest guest
My guess it that they are realizing the great liability they have taken on! Think about it - they are (perhaps) good at sticking a needle into your port, but they have NO training in the ART of fills - how much to give? How often? If someone is not losing well, do they need a fill? or an UNfill? There is a **GREAT** deal more to a competant fill than just the technical skill of injecting some saline! Someone untrained in BANDING, but giving FILLS can truly be dangerous to your band investment. You have a great deal of mental, physical, and financial investment in your band - don't endanger it by trying to save a couple hundred dollars. I know money is tight for most of us, but - think about it - the band really is worth the BEST of care. Don't chance wrecking it. Guest guest
The spin you put on my post is incorrect, they are doctors and were very knowledgeable about the band and understood how it works. I think your guessing is way off. My guess is there was not enough business to continue, and the price was low for the time they put into the fill. Not everybody is as incompetent as you think, this is not rocket science, with a fluoroscope the port is pretty easy to find. No one can tell if the fill is right but you. They provided a great service. ine T. ----- Original Message ----- > My guess it that they are realizing the great liability NO training in the ART of fills - That is not true.... they did have training Someone untrained in BANDING, but giving FILLS can truly be > dangerous to your band investment.
