Guest guest
I am going to Dr. Frering in Lyon France. Total cost is about $8500 plus airfare/hotel. (It would have been cheaper but that darn Euro kept going up!) He has done hundreds of bandings and is very well respected in the community. There are also the Mexican doctors which are around the same cost. I opted for France because the WHO (World Health Organization) has indicated that France is one of the top three worldwide health organizations in the world -- however just from my brief experience with Bansters it is evident that there are many doctors in many parts of the world that are very qualified and have superb facilities. to be banded 3/24/

Can someone tell me > what the total cost is, so that I can give her this information. Up in Kirkland, I believe that it's around $16,000 outpatient. Jessie can tell you what all is included. I think they run a very knowledgable and tight ship up there. I'm impressed with all that I've seen. My twin sister and I went to Dr. Kuri (wonderful surgeon!) in Tijuana, Mexico for around $8,000 each plus airfare. However, one has to be very responsible to chose weight loss surgery in Mexico. You must have aftercare arranged locally in case you have complications such as post-op swelling that occurs after you leave Mexico or any infections of your incisions. Complications are rare, but do happen. Plus, you need to make sure you have a local fill doctor or have the resources available to go back down to TJ for fills (included in the price of your surgery, plus $50 for the radiologists for fluoro). I loved Dr. Kuri and recommend him (have also heard good things about Dr. Ortiz), but if your friends don't have the extra initiative or finances to get good, strong aftercare, then I recommend spending more money initially and getting the care locally in Kirkland (or close to where-ever you are.). All is just my two cents, of course. I recommend posting your question to other bandster boards such as smartbandsters, bandsters, mexicanbandsters because this boards is more typically used for scheduling meetings (and griping about jerks like Gerald). Roxanne (typing on 's computer). Dr. Kuri 12/13/03 303/275/

Guest guest
, Not a bad choice. The MidBand sounds very logical, practical and effective. Know several successfull Bandster that have the MidBand and Dr. Frering has excellent stats. Craig Dr Kuri 2/14/01 SoCal/Oak Harbor
