Eating Out (3 course meals)

Eating out is great for the Bandster. Some hints that have worked for me. I

travel and eat out a lot.

Order an appetizer. If the bread comes first SKIP it, or nibble on crackers.

Better to skip all those carbs, though.

If you see a menu item you like, see if someone will split it with you. If

not, order it, eat what you can (don't stuff your tummy) and box/take home

the rest. If you're going somewhere after the meal where the food will not

keep, just leave it. (hard to do with most of us, but you'll get use to it)

Some other important issues is to pay attention foremost to your eating.

Hard to do at first if you're into socializing, but you don't want to get

stuck and have to excuse yourself. Embarrassing for all. Take small bites,

chew until almost a liquid, wait in between bites, first eat the protein,

then vegetables, cooked or part of a salad. If you are at a party, take a

LITTLE ice cream or pudding. It will soon be too rich for you and you'll

pass altogether.

Good luck. It is all trial and error, and what works one day will not work

the next. But you'll soon see some patterns that work for you most of the

time.
