Guest guest
Thanks Irene,The extremely dry, flaky skin I have is a part of the hypothyroid problem and I live in New Mexico, where there is no moisture to speak of, which of course, does not help matters. Coconut oil is a good idea, right now I am using unrefined sesame oil, I might try a few drops of Lugol's in it just to see the effect. Last time I used it for a while and got burning of the skin so I started putting vitamine E on the skin and that made the burning worse!!! I have no idea why. Usually when I am using it I use it several times a day which is probably overkill. But Dr. suggests using it twice a day for some conditions. I am wondering what he might use to prevent the burning. Putting it in some kind of oil might help. I don't have any suggestions for iodine for dry skin. But I like to use coconut oil. Also, how do you use it, do you dilute it in oil or lotion and spread it all over or just in one area? I have not used it topically and am wondering how this is useful and if I could be using for horrible dry skin on my lower legs. > I have been using Tincture of Iodine on both legs, twice a week > for about a month now, and I find it to be healing, not burning. > Alobar > > > > > > So far I have used regular drugstore iodine, rejuvedine and lugols > on my skin and all caused burning after a while. Guest guest
Thanks so much for elaborating, the information is helpful to all of us, I think, in trying to learn more. > I have not looked into Bromine detox at all. Guest guest
For how long does one need to continue the salt protocol? Would that be until I no longer went hypo with 50 mg. iodoral? Thanks. Guest guest
I am still learning, but I can tell you that the bromine comes from things we ingest. Mountain Dew and other " cloudy " lemon/lime sodas as well as the green Gatorade have brominated vegetable oil in them. Bromine is used as a dough conditioner in many breads and pastries since the 1980's. Prior to that iodine was used. Some pesticides have bromide in them too. So do some medications. I'm sure there must be other sources, but those are the ones I am familiar with. Bromine, being a similar atom to iodine, will attach to the receptors in our cells if sufficient iodine is not available. In my case, I drank Mountain Dew for 40 years, was also on a low salt diet, then for the last 20 years did not use iodized salt. That was enough for me to become very saturated with bromine and almost no iodine. I don't know how long it takes to detox the bromine out of your system, I suppose it's different for each individual. I expect a minimum of 3 months, probably longer. But, I feel better after one week on 100 mg of Iodoral and detoxing bromine, than I have felt in ten years. So don't dispair the detoxing. Blessings- Vicki Hey-someone correct me if I gave incorrect information, because I want to know too! > > Hi - I'm new here and am wondering just where does the bromide come > from and what is the average length of time it takes to detox from it. > Judy >
Guest guest
There is info on the sources of it here http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/bromidedominancetheory.html There is no average time to detox. It depends on how much you have in you and how well your detox pathways are functioning plus how much iodine you take in and how much you are exposed to on a daily basis.
