Guest guest
This is a series of messages with Amy that I thought the group would be interested in. Amy said it was OK to forward to the group. You might want to start reading from the end so it will make more sense. Zoe Iodine 100 mg.Hi Zoe,I just had my phone consult with Dr Flechas and he thinks that I too am not absorbing Iodine. My saturation was much higher than the average (Mine was 77 out of 100). So, I don't know if that is because I started making sure I was getting more Iodine in my diet as soon as I read the words Iodine deficiency, or if there is a problem with my sodium iodine symporter. When he said 100 mg's I about fell off my chair. That seems like so much, so I was wondering since you said in an email to today that you took 100 mg's for a month, which is what he said for me to do, did you notice or have any side effects? And if so are they lasting. And you said you reached saturation at that point, so now what have you dropped your mg's to. I am just very curious because, I really don't think I do have a problem with my symporter, although who knows. ;0) Also, did ingesting that much Iodine correct your problem, and are you now absorbing correctly? In hindsight would you do the same protocol again?Sorry to ask so many questions, but from one lab rat to another, I'd like to know at least one persons experience with such a high dose!Take care & thanks for your time!Amy
Guest guest
I don't understand why he would decide you have a symporter problem based on the comparison of your spot test and your loading test. Did he say any more? It is very hard to get mg amounts of iodine by using salt, but you should be able to get enough to make your spot test high. I don't understand how your loading test could be so high based on the iodine you report taking. I wonder if that is part of why he was suspicious it was not right. But you certainly seem to be getting the results! Impressive! Your goiter is gone and the painful breasts are gone. Very interesting. And you have done that on relatively small amounts of iodine. Congratulations! Did you change anything else that might have also had an effect? I'm also impressed that you seem to be feeling really good. That's great! You must be doing a lot of things right. Congratulations on finding your new wonderful doc. I wish everyone could find a doc they felt that way about.
