I have interstitial cystitis and agreed to test this product for an author of three books on IC who is in the process of writing a fourth. She herself is also testing NCD and since it has alkalizing properties which greatly helps those of us with IC, she thought this might be a great help to us because most of what is used to chelate heavy metals is too strong for an IC bladder. It just happened to resolve an achy liver that had been plaguing me all this year. Sorry I misinterpreted some of what you said. I looked through your prior posts, but I must be missing something, because nothing seemed any clearer. Are you familiar with Dr. Larrian Gillespie's advice for IC, and if so, do you give it any credence? I have a friend that sounds like she has IC, and suggested she read Dr. Gillespie. Is there a better resource? Do you have any amalgam fillings in your teeth? Any type of chelation istotally contraindicated if you do. Yes. I do. But I don't agree here. If a chelating agent is truly effective for mercury, it is going to pull the mercury out of the amalgam into the body. The marketing on NCD sounds wonderful, but the product has been been thoroughly discredited as an effective detoxification method by the experts on the Frequent Dose Chelation group. Since this is OT for this group, I refer you there if you want more information. Please provide a link to more specific information...say an abstract or some kind of science to back up your strong decreditation. Well, my memory of the discussion about NCD on Frequent Dose Chelation wasn't entirely accurate, so I will eat some of my previous words. After reviewing posts there, the conclusion presented was that NCD is totally ineffective in chelating mercury, because it does not have the double sulfhydryl groups that are necessary in order to grab onto mercury. To anyone convinced that NCD will chelate mercury or other heavy metals, the question is asked: what evidence is there? Is there any evidence other than the manufacturer's claims? What I was in error about was the possibility of mercury redistribution from NCD. So far there appears to be no harm from NCD, other than to the pocketbook, but any chelation claims are dubious. The minerals in it may be helpful to some people. My apologies to Zoe and the group for continuing on this non-iodine topic. I wanted to correct my misstatements.
