These are not the same, even though both are Inamed bands.

The Vanguard band is the European name for the 11 cm band. In the US,

it is sometimes mistakenly called the VG band, even by surgeons. The

true Vanguard band is never used (not approved) in the US. And it is

not approved only becuase Inamed never asked for approval.

the 9.75 cm band, 10.0 cm bands and the VG band give an adequate choice

of sizes for US use.

The VG band is an entirely different band - looks, acts, filled

differently. It is approximately a 13 cm band. Sandy r

I didn't either, before I talked with the Inamed guys about it. :-)A

lot of surgeons mis-state this, and it makes for a lot of confusion!

you should know exactly which band you have, becuase the fill amounts

are quite different. the real VG holds 10 cc, while the others hold

much less.

The Swedish band is just anothr brand of band. There are maybe 10

different ones in use throughout the world - the AMI band, heliogast,

Swedish, French Midband, Inamed, and others I can';t even rmember.

Tjhay all work basically the same - they need fills, good eating,

exercise, fluids, and good care to help their recipients lose weight

and then keep it off. Every one of the bands has grat successes, as

well as failkurs - becuase how well we do with ANY band is largely up

to us, and the choices we make. None ar a magic cure (sadly!)

The Swedish band is in FDA trials now in the US, and may be ok'd for

use in the next few years. In the meantime, the Inamed band is the

only one approved for use in the US. Sandy r---
