Guest guest
CONGRATS to you, Lidia. Wishing I were in your shoes. I'm trying desperately to get to 100 lbs lost by this Friday 4/5, my 2 year Bandiversary. It will bring me to 199 and under 200 just like you. I tried Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet, a Bandster friendly diet and one that I used to do before banding, but could never stick to. Found out that I still can't stick to it. Should be easier for me now that I don't really eat much bread or pasta. Was ok for the first 4 days or so and then attended a birthday party, had some cake, and it was all over. My sugar cravings kicked in and now I'm stuggling again. I had broken a 3 month plateau after being unfilled and refilled and got to 95 lbs on Friday....yay. But afraid to even weigh tomorrow. Oh, well sorry to complain, but very happy for you. Guest guest
Thank you Sandy. I feel comfortable with this fill now that I can manage my food intake, it will be a little while before I consider another one. Hope that the inertia of my metabolism continues snowballing down:) Lidia Sandy <MoonshadowRN@...> wrote: Lidia - Good for you!! This shows that perseverance pays off!! Guest guest
Hi Carol, I found it really helped reduce my sugar cravings to take some acidophilus (sp?) regularly. Some supplement stores will have it under probiotics. And if you have a Trader Joe's near you, they carry a chewable form that is easy to take. I had 2 rounds of antibiotics last year when I had pneumonia, and I really struggled with sugar cravings in December but started the acidoph. and after a few weeks, I was significantly better. Now I'm back to being able to have a small bit of dark chocolate for dessert and stop at one. Liz in Bellevue, WA mom1960cq wrote: My sugar cravings kicked in and now I'm > stuggling again. Guest guest
Congratulations Lidia, I am so happy for you. I know you have been struggling to learn all of the rules and by gosh, I think you have it. Take care Hope to see you at the April support meeting where, you, I, and Inforzato can celebrate our one year bandaversary!!!!!!!!!! April 21st, details will follow. I am here happy to tell you that I finally broke the plateau from several weeks plateauing and bouncing close to the same weight. SINCE THIS MORNING I AM UNDER 200!!!! YIPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII After almost a year, Now, I stated to understand how the band work IN ME and what I have to watch for. Here some of the tips I had learn and helped me to break the 200 sh : 1- My stress level, this is No. 1 because I thought I need an unfill at times but it was my stress that restricted my band- without the band, in stressful times, I used to eat and eat whatever to calm my nerves. Now I can't do this anymore or I PB. Last year, when under stress and been tight, I had lots of high calories drinks that did not help. 2- I started closely to watch my intake food, planned it and write it at fitday.com, amazingly I discovered back in January that my carbs intake was very high, and I though that " I did not get that much " ....well my calories were low but carbs high, so there you go. I started with SOLIDS since the band work with solids and I pick up foods from the list. With my third fill, I am eating 1 cup to 1.5 cups of solids. I ACTUALLY MEASURE ( I hate that) my cereal, and solids that are not in cans or other already measured containers. Yes, sometimes I feel hungry and I get a cheese string to help me to next meal. 3- All you know by now that I was drinking 1 gallon of water, I had reduced to 100 oz. That had helped also tremendously to see the scale move. 4- Exercise, if you read it my post before, I started in January a good routine and consistent exercise. I do 1 hr step class on Mondays, 45 minutes incline walk on Tue, 1/2 step on Wed, then Thur and Sat 45 minutes with 1/2 incline. 5- This one is only for me: anytime that I eat salty solids, like bacon, sausages, links, etc etc, I will retain up to 4 pounds and it takes me the whole week to get ready of it. So I learn that by closely monitoring my food and writing down. All these payed off to break the plateau and so happy that this morning I weighted 198, oooo, yipiiiiiii. All of us are different, I am going to be 1 year this months, and it seem that I just getting the grasp of this band business. I have the tools, and hope to continue with my success, the INERTIA had started and it took lot to break it, but I am happy that finally I did. Guest guest
Carol, you have done extremely well, keep up the good work. If I were you I woulnd't even get on the scales tomorrow. Don't se youself up for disappointment. Maybe make a goal to weight in 5 days or something like that and then work at a little extra walking or something each day to get you past your hump. Take care mom1960cq <mom1960cq@...> wrote: CONGRATS to you, Lidia. Wishing I were in your shoes. I'm trying desperately to get to 100 lbs lost by this Friday 4/5, my 2 year Bandiversary. Guest guest
Hi Liz, Thanks for the tip. Did you ever have any heartburn or reflux issues? I've heard that acidophilus helps with this. I've only used yogurt and not often with acidoph in it, never taken a supplement. Would like to start trying it before they put me back on the Nexium for my reflux/heartburn. Guest guest
Hi Elaine, I have not been able to stay off the scales for 2 years. I've come to the conclusion that I'm one of those people who needs to see that number each day. It does get me upset when its up, but I think it keeps me from going way off track also. If I waited until Friday to weigh I would probably go nuts. Anyway got to 96 lbs today, so 4 more to go! One problem, even if I do great with my eating and exercise this week....its PMS time(sorry guys)so I'm not so sure that I'll make the goal. Anyway, there's nothing like doing the shopping, cooking, cleaning at the holidays with 96 lbs gone. World of difference. Thanks for the encouragement. Guest guest
Hi Carol, I have had reflux problems, which I attributed to my allergies since that's what I blame for everything that doesn't have an obvious cause. I was taking the acidophilus during the last episode and it wasn't as bad. I just had heartburn keeping me from going to sleep until 2-3 am, and never got to the reflux waking me up stage. I don't see how it could hurt to try it. Liz mom1960cq wrote: > Hi Liz, > Thanks for the tip. Did you ever have any heartburn or reflux > issues? I've heard that acidophilus helps with this. Guest guest
I had the reflux wake me up and I was choking several months ago. I am adamant about not eating at least 2 hrs before bed now and it hasn't been a problem since.
